So Mourinho gets Madrid past the 2nd round for the first time in 6 years. Also I believe the commentator said that was Madrids first win over Lyon in 7 games.

If Mourinho does make himself available at the end of the season it is an absolute must as far as I'm concerned. Not only so we have the best manager in the country but it will mean the rags or chelsea can't have him.

Right...so we get Mourinho, spend a year and half buying and selling players (making a massive loss in the process), we struggle to keep in line with the FFP, then the Portugal job comes-a-knocking and Jose toddles off.

Now what?

Back the manager, one of the brightest, classiest young managers in the game and let him take City to the pinnacle of football. It might take a couple of years longer than it would under Mourinho (unfortunately for those of you who want overnight trophies) but Mancini is well worth it! IMO of course.

You seem to be under the impression that Mancini will remain at City for a long time to come. Mancini is no more loyal to the club than Balotelli or Tevez. Right now we want nto bw at the pinnacle of European football. With the resources available to him Mourinho would take us to all three domestic cups and a final, if not a win in the champions league. Then we can get a manager who is in it for the long haul.

so JM will be 100% faithful to the club and immediately win trophies as you predict? Hillarious hypothesis. Let's just see if he can win anything this season for Real Madrid.

You have a very naive understanding of football if you think Jm could just step in and win everything next year but Mancini wouldn't win anything.

Jose would win us stuff for however long he'd be here.

I'll take that.

I wouldn't bill. Think about it, he would be gone within a few years like he always does. Mancini could be our Fergie. Here for many many years with club stability and winning things. I would happily take another trophyless year this year, then slowly build up to the top. If mourinho came it would all be about him him him. We needs to stand by Mancini, he is the man for the job.

If I thought that the football we now play would be like that for the next 20 years I'd give up my season ticket right now.

Although i am not qualified to ask you this , i will. Do you have a season ticket in order to watch and support City or do you have a season ticket to watch and support exciting football?

Bill, you are a clever man and someone who does understand the game.

What Mancini is doing is building a tem and a squad. He has started by improving our defence beyond all recognition and making us hard to beat, harder to beat than I can ever remeber us being in top flight football.

Once these foundations are laid the beautiful game will follow, I think that may be two years (or more) away yet. I do not think that these game plans and negative tactics will be with us forever - BTW Murinho was no better in that department.

If you want a fantastic house with all mod cons and every conceivable gadget going, you first have to lay foundation and make certain that is rock solid... the is the time to buy high claa furnishings, fit modern lighting, fit satelite dishes, home cinema and communications all the sexxy type stuff (including quality carpets come to that).

Just give the man time and space and KEEP THE FAITH.

It would be a disaster to bring in Mourinho at the end of this season at the cost of Roberto.... absolute disaster and would set us back two years at least, in fact I doubt we'd ever recover.

Great post and if totally agree. Getting rid of Mancini full stop will be a disaster.
