Correct he probably didn't.

But that's when he was an apprentice. As a master he gets the privilege of running a club in whatever way he wishes without the constraints of the lack of money.

Every club since Porto have spent a lot of money.

Re: My gripe with Mourinho...

This myth that Mourinho has 2 years then fucks off from every club he has ever managed is nonsense. He left Porto after he had won everything with them, the same with Milan. He was fired by Chelsea and in my opinion after he has finished at Madrid he wants to move back to England for the long term.

He has always talked about his desire to win in Spain, Italy & England if he achieves that with Madrid this year, I honestly think that the City job would be exactly what he is after. A sleeping giant, who’ve been living in the shadows for years but with the wealth to mount a serious challenge and ultimately become one of the biggest clubs in the world.

He has never really been to a club that hasn’t won anything for years, Porto, Chelsea, Milan and Madrid were all successful in different forms before he arrived, but I think in his mind to be able to turn the fortunes of a club around would be his biggest challenge, and if successful his biggest achievement.

I’ve backed Mancini for as long as I feel I can, I now believe a change is required. I’ve seen enough of this slow, negative, gutless, boring football to know that he isn’t going to change his ways and even if he does achieve champions league football for next season, in the long term I don’t feel he is the man to take us where we want us to be.

If the opportunity became available I would take the special one all day long.
