What has Mourinho got to prove or win there?

Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Mourinho's not got anything to prove anywhere. He could win trophy after to trophy there and huge recognition at one of the biggest clubs in the world

Disagree in that he is a man that likes to prove a point. He wants to be seen as the man that did what no others have managed in a while.

Time will tell on it all mate that's for sure.

Just listened to talkshite. Talking about Jose possibly going to the rags (irani getting excited). Could this be because City are closing in on him and they realise what will happen if he does come to COMS.

It's probably more to do with Jose wanting the rags job and the rags knowing that he's the only man who can realistically replace bacon face, who is due to retire soon. Talkshite is bullshit but these points aren't

Do the math

I'm not convinced by the argument that Jose definitely wants the United job. It seems to me to be a whisper which has become perceived fact due to the amount of times it's been repeated.

As we found out to our cost last season, Mourinho likes to keep every single available option open to him until the very last minute and until he signs on the dotted line no-one can be entirely sure of what he's going to do.

Not only does this benefit him professionally it also means his gigantic ego is stroked by as many clubs as possible. It's the nature of the man.

He will obviously come back to this country soon, I don't think Chelsea is an option despite what is being said, so it will be us, United (if the Glazers sell up and he has money to spend), Spurs (if Harry gets the England job) or Arsenal (that just doesn't seem the right 'fit' to me though).

I get the impression we're a more attractive proposition to him at the moment than United. Don't listen to idiots like Irani and the Custis brothers, United have no WARCHEST to spend and Jose will want serious money at his next club.

If it becomes clear that Mourinho is seriously interested in City and vice versa will United put pressure on Ferguson to retire in the Summer in an attempt to lure him? That could be an interesting sub-plot.

Re: Jose for City?

I dont know whether the owners are seriously looking at Jose but the interview in the Sun this mornoing quotes him

"In football there are a few victories here I would like to repeat. I will talk to my agent and get a PROJECT for my career. ''

That word keeps cropping up with us and not Chelsea, Stretford or Spuds - just a thought.

i see all this talk about mourinho. Louis van Gaal is stepping down as manager of bayern this year and would probably be ideal, also if we really wanted to replace mancini (which i dont) i think guus hiddink would be the best man to do it. credit to mourinho for all he has accomplished but he causes too much drama and im also under the impression that he wouldn't stay long and probably leave when the united job became vacant
if van Gaal was doing the job he's doing at Byern at City everyone would be hounding him out.

That and the fact the Jose has actually said himself that he would be interested in the united job, I can't recall him ever saying anythign about him being aprticularly interested in joining us. How much smoke do you need? The only whispers perceived as fact that I can see are the ones on here about Jose wanting to spend, wanting to create a dynasty, not wanting to be bacon faces pupppet etc

Wenger ain't leaving Arsenal so I can't see him going there and don't see him fitting there either. Rags depends on bacon face leaving at the end of the season, Chelsea is a possibiltiy, though i think he'd take us over spurs even if they get champs league and we don't

LOL I saw that quote and knew it would be up on here sharpish. It did make me think for a second, but no doubt people on here will claim it's conclusicve evidence that he's coming to City ;-)
