You might catch a few with thatNot better than any of our current options...maybe Gomez

Thanks for the reply i do appreciate sound reasoning which you supply, the Laporte position is unknown but i am expecting City to use the same rules they used with Bernardo, ie wait for a transfer request, wait for an exceptable fee, then wait for the right replacement at the right price.A player's only worth what we're willing to pay. Rumours are that we're willing to allow Laporté to leave if we can replace him with Gvardiol.
It's a decision for the club to make & I trust they'll make the correct call. As for how much he'll cost? I'm sure we'll take all factors into consideration...
I thought Laporté's game time was being managed because of injury. It's evident now he's become our 5th choice CB which shows the quality we must have. Thanks for the reply i do appreciate sound reasoning which you supply, the Laporte position is unknown but i am expecting City to use the same rules they used with Bernardo, ie wait for a transfer request, wait for an exceptable fee, then wait for the right replacement at the right price.
Even if laporte chooses to leave we will have 4 CB`s left, has Dias played more on the left than right? would Pep leave a position short for years before getting in an ideal replacement ie a left footed left CB?Your confident positioning about the future is showing some courage, but the world could change next day...
Laporte might stay for whatever reason.
Leipzig might miss top 4 and Gvardiol is on the market in summer for €80m.
Leipzig might qualify for CL, but Gvardiol still might want to finally play PL - and now.
So I don't buy your story as invariable truth.
I don't know the market for top left CBs but surely you can tell me who's better and available, replacing Laporte (who seems to be NOT Pep's preferred one).
If Gvardiol meets our high standards of personality (team player, work rate, humility, positivity and more) I don't believe his price would be a huge issue until you name the cheaper top alternative.
Waiting for Gvardiol til 2024 as you suggest means we need a quality loan player to bridge next season. Who could that be??
The new permanent player will sign til 2028 at least. And he will be a top quality man with potential, that's for sure. We don't buy a 2nd best solution this year and Gvardiol next.
If Pep continues with Ake as a left back, we only really have 3 CB's if Laporte leaves.Even if laporte chooses to leave we will have 4 CB`s left, has Dias played more on the left than right?
Ake left a good contract at Chelsea to play at Bournemouth as a CB, needless to say Pep will know this but why tempt fate? Ake moving permanently to left back would involve City letting Cancelo go and not replacing him, as Cancelo is a very good left wing back and Ake is a very good left back.If Pep continues with Ake as a left back, we only really have 3 CB's if Laporte leaves.
A grave error imo on pure ability and his past contribution, including his selfless sacrifices for the cause through the pain barrier at the end of last season, when struggling with injury but we were struggling even worse for defensive numbers.I thought Laporté's game time was being managed because of injury. I trust the club & they'll handle the situation come the summer...
I think we need to assume Cancelo wont be back Given the response of the team since he’s left. Pep’s not going to let that malcontent rejoin the team.Ake left a good contract at Chelsea to play at Bournemouth as a CB, needless to say Pep will know this but why tempt fate? I could be wrong, but I imagine you get in this City team and play the big games we play, you are happyAke left a good contract at Chelsea to play at Bournemouth as a CB, needless to say Pep will know this but why tempt fate? I've no idea what's happened behind the scenes, but Cancelo & Laporté have previous where causing grief after being left out is concerned.A grave error imo on pure ability and his past contribution, including his selfless sacrifices for the cause through the pain barrier at the end of last season, when struggling with injury but we were struggling even worse for defensive numbers.
However, something definitely appears to have gone on behind the scenes, possibly in the Cancelo ‘bad faces’ vibe
He is miles better than both Ake and Akanji but Pep seems to have made his mind up
Dangerous game as we are probably an Ake injury away from badly needing him match sharp and motivated
