I may be getting 2+2=5 here. But tolmie has said hes on his way... he was liking city posts a few weeks back about us being linked with certain players. I think this is quietly already agreed.

They still will have some say on it as the release clause doesn't kick in until 2024. It could turn out as it had happened with Haaland, but its not completely cut and dried.

Without the release clause it would be ridiculously expensive. I don't think he is going to move in the summer. The next season is our best bet (although the danger is an auction)

A lot more comfortable with release clause auctions since Haaland. If we can grab him, we can grab anybody. He had the choice of every elite club.

I agree with you on that. Its a position that has does not have to be immediately strengthened.

Im on the opposite of you i think its agreed. I think theres too much noise of our interest this summer. I get where you come from with it being expensive but with laporte leaving this summer i do think they have something planned. (Leipzig will have there price though). It is around the time of the year we start hearing about our summer signings.

RB Leipzig have already denied it and said he isn't for sale. If there was some agreement they wouldn't deny it. They aren't a club that moves their players on after only a couple of seasons (hence the release clause that kicks in 2024). If Chelsea really wanted him then they would of met RB Leizig's high valuation. None of our targets are set instone (including Jude Bellingham)

they are hardly going to come out midseason and say hes off are they when they are in the midst of a battle in the bundesliga, kind of like dortmund havent with jude. I trust people like tolmie and things like him liking city posts seems a bit odd if there isnt a development there. However we will find out in around 2 ish months or so i guess.
 
They would have stayed quiet if there was something really solid in the rumours (especially with them playing us in the Champions League). I don't think we will meet their valuation this time but we will bide our time and see what happens when the release clause kicks in. Since Mangala's flop we don't tend to overpay for defenders.

I hope you’re right.. and it is promising with what TH has said. I’m thinking it’ll be a back 3/4 next year, with Gvardiol on the left and Lewis making the 4th on the right when defending. Walker will be sent packing soon, the way he’s going.
