That release clause has gone up now to 40m but apparently they would except 30m

25 million pounds for Mata doesn't seem too much to me. I mean Nasri is going for 22 mil, and he has 1 year left on his K. Most would consider Mata and Nasri to be of similar talent, even if you think Nasri is better, they are comparable. If Nasri is worth 22 with 1 year left, surely Mata should be worth 27 with 3 years left, NO?

One year left on his 'K'...............what's that? An additional clause we didn't know about?

I haven't seen a ton of Mata footage but I know this. He's the best player in a Spanish team that just won the under 21 championship.

And the prospect of Mata - Silva is tantalizing.

You simply cannot go wrong signing this player.

I am a big Mata fan and even managed to convert Dax, which takes some doing! I would love him at the club but as much as I hate to say it the man of the under 21s comp was actually Javi Martinez. He was that good Mata was moved to the wings to allow Martinez to play in the middle.

Martinez will be better than Gerrard and Sneijder in a couple of years and is better than Nasri and Modric now (for the middle)! He is the one who we should definitely be in for otherwise he will be off to Barca next summer.

I would love to see Mata, Silva and Martinez in the same team :)

I disagre with that Mad, Martinez is a defensive midfielder, and the best U21 one they have, so he was gonna start in the middle defensively regardless of where Mata played. And if Mata was argued to have been moved from the middle to accommodate anyone, It would be Thiago or Anders who both played in the middle ahead of Martinez.

That said, as good as Martinez was, Mata was even better.

It's the m.e.n. But there are saying in their recent Nasri article that city are "monitoring" mata , which if true ( again it is the men! ) is the first time I think we have actually been linked (I think ).

Baffles me why we are even entertaining Nasri if this lad is available,he is younger,proven alongside Silva,looks as good if not better and is far more consistent and less injury prone - get him signed.

I agree. I don't get the Nasri interest at all. I don't really rate him. He seems largely anonymous whenever I see him play.

They have to as Ces will be off and £35m coming in for him plus they are the biggest money making club now.

One or two murmurs down here that Nasri is expected to depart quite soon. Just murmurs mind. These from one or two Gooners I know who I respect.

Don't understand why there are so many pages dedicated to this player. We have only been linked with him very loosely and if we were to sign him then it would have happened by now as with the ffp rules we would ave swooped before his clause finished.

Thiago is highly valued by Barça fans.

Meanwhile, Wenger is desperate not to lose the Captain according to all the Arsenal connexions I know down here. Barca aren't helping by dragging things out in the knowledge that their season starts two weeks later than the EPL. They will do a repeat of Sanchez to screw the Gunners. If they can, they will.

tbh if i was fabregas at this point i may be tempted to tell barca where to shove it and show a little dignity if they wanted him and valued him so highly i think they would have in.
