Jude Bellingham

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, or if this has been posted elsewhere. This is a quote from Declan Rice, and if other England players can apply the same attitude, it will stand England in good stead for the coming tournament, and for Tuchel's England career.

Bellingham has definitely developed a bigger ego than his actual footballing talent in recent years.
Seemed so humble and down to earth when he was at Dortmund.

Shame how you can go off players you used to like.

I know you take some flack in here, and I really dislike Bellingham so I fall into that side of the camp here, but yeah I agree with you here.

Not many international sides play attractive football at a given time, some are functional, some counter-attacking, some defensive and some possession based. Southgate definitely didn’t get the best out of a few players he maybe should have, but then again name me an England manager who hasn’t fallen down with that at some point.

Southgate was also limited when it came to facing up to the big boys in crunch games, and that’s why I felt it was right for him to move on to try bridge the next step. I was pissed at times with him don’t get me wrong.

However, that period of England tournaments have been the best in my living memory to experience, the most fun I’ve had (and I’ve watched some of our qualifiers in the past under Eriksson, McLaren and Capello - fucking Christ), and players seemed enthusiastic and cohesive as a unit when playing for England again and I can’t knock him for that.

I think people see your username sometimes and decide their angle without actually digesting your point and being balanced about it. I mean, hundreds want Pep out every few weeks before changing their minds again, so I’d take some ideas with a grain of salt.

Mad how so many doom and gloom merchants there are, Southgate era for England was the best it's been for England since the 60's, sure some rubbish matches but that's more the nature of international football than anything to do with tactics - Ive watched Brazil, Italy, Spain matches in recent years and they've been a bore fest. I'm not fussed as long as we win matches, and under Southgate we did consistently and now the batten has been handed to Tuchel with likes of Foden, Bellingham, Saka all at the prime of their career - it's happy days.
 
Ian Wright saying Bellingham gets grief cause he's black. It's nothing to do with that Ian, nobody mentions his skin colour

How does he explain the shit he was giving Sterling, Grealish and Foden on ITV?
 
I don't normally have a strong opinion about Wright one way or the other. I quite liked him for coming out very frankly about his lousy childhood, and not being afraid to show his emotion about it (cf. particularly the Desert Island Discs he did). I warmed to him on non-football subjects.
As a “pundit”, he is mediocre at best, says little that is genuinely illuminating, but isn't that true of about 80% of them? So nothing to see there.
This about Bellingham is utter, 22 carat, bollocks, and it annoys me that he's got a platform for it. It is crap. I wish Wrighty could learn to keep his mouth shut when he's got nothing pertinent to say. I become weary of people playing the race card where it has no place. There has been, and is, prejudice. Is that recognised enough in society at large? Maybe, maybe not. It's a debate.
It's absolutely not the issue here. I'm not interested in Bellingham or anyone else being a “superstar” — whatever the hell that means in the context of football. Are they supposed to prance around like Taylor Swift or something? Bellingham has no more call to give it the billy-big-bollocks on that England pitch than anyone else. Less than several, in fact. (Certainly less than Kane). He has no greater right to do it because he happens to be black, and would have no less right if he happened to have delivered up to now what he seems to think he has delivered — but has most definitely not. He does not get a free pass on arrogance because of the colour of his skin. Any more than anyone white would do so. Enough of this shit already. He has been acclaimed as the messiah for England by the media far more than he's been slagged off by them. When he actually plays a crucial part in helping England to do what they have not done for nearly sixty years, i.e. win a major tournament, then he can start to strut around a bit. Until then he has no more right to be out on that pitch than anyone else in the squad. He really needs to take that on board, and Wright is doing him a disservice in encouraging him to think otherwise.
 
The reason people don't like Bellingham is because he comes across as a prick on the pitch. Constant throwing himself around and crying on the ground. All that "who else?!" Celebration Bollocks sums him up.
 
Wrights comments are typical of him, and completely wrong. I have no idea how he came to the conclusion that bellingham is a "superstar" other than from bellinghams own PR team. He's currently a selfish footballer for me, and Tuchel was right about his attitude (even if he did apologise for saying it). When (if) he finally learns to be a team player, he might become a superstar, but until then Wright would be better advising to get rid of the ego, rather than further inflating it.
