Heres some stats from article:
Draxler has scored 13 goals and 7 assists for Schalke this season and has become one of the most highly rated young players in Europe and at the age of 19 already has 6 appearances for the German national team.
City thought to be ready to pay nearly £39 million the player, with manager Manuel Pellegrini desperate to sign a quality youngster after missing out on Isco, who moved to Real Madrid.

Bild are reliable now are they ? Behave, they're as useless as the rest of our rags. It's a typical young German turns down the whores of football to stay loyal to his boyhood club story. There's no way in hell we've bid that money for him

Bild is more relieable than Daily Fail etc. - but in this case Schalke had an event yesterday and there manager confirmed it.

Just tells how desperate the market is - you see that with the sums called with Bale, too. There is better players - but which better player is available? That stories make you ask what sums you could achieve for better players or more ready players like Reus, Müller, Özil etc. or their spanish equivalents...

Draxler is the no. 5 of the German offensive midfielders right now - already better than Schürrle and Podolski but only 19. Very big talent. More direct than Götze is but more playmaker than Reus. He improved especially since the winter break.

Draxler himself said no to a transfer this year.

Don't get me wrong, Draxler is incredible and I'd believe stories he may have turned down a move this summer after just signing a new contract . But it's all this 12 million a year bollocks that winds me up, the exact same thing was said when Gotze signed for Bayern, and I just don't believe a word of it

12million euro per year works out as £215,000/week so pure fabricated bollocks, especially as our 'basic' ceiling is now £140,000/week and I doubt Draxler would even earn the maximum basic when Fernandinho and Navas are well below it. Definitely has that elitist Bundesliga aura of 'wonder boy snubs evil rich clubs'.

Spot on mate, my thought exactly

Actually - the wages are not the thing I really thought about. For me the question was more if somebody would trigger the release clause. And that is what I really can imagine because of this year's transfer market and the lack of available players.

The wages are often a question of an in-club-policy. That's why e.g. some told sums in the Götzetransfer to Bayern were not to believe either as you do not destroy the structures inside the club hierarchy.

Replacement bought by Draxler's club ?
Nah, goretzka is more of a CM not a cam and definetly not a winger.

Schalke's youth work is fantastic. There is a couple of very good youngsters next year in the team - most of them out of their own academy.

You are right. Goretzka is a different type of player. Schalke has now three of the biggest midfield talents in germany in the team. Glad to see, my club has changed its strategy about young players and that Borussia Dortmund is no place for young players anymore. It is now the second talent in a short time, that prefers Schalke over Dortmund
