Have we actually been realiably linked with his or is this another 'I think we should buy....' thread?

No, Bild have said City and Madrid have met the release clause but Draxler has turned us both down.

Bild are quite reliable.

Cheers. Quite understandable why he'd want to stay in Germany in a World Cup Year

He is only 19 as well, huge move for him so young.

It speaks volumes when he's already starting for Germany at the age of 19. .

Like the player, but didn't he get his first start in the USA earlier this month, where Germany put out their B team because the Dortmund/Bayern players were unavailable?

The amount of midfielders they have at there disposal is a joke. There starting to override Spain! For anyone to start for Germany at the age of 19 is some achievement. I reckon hes worth the risk but doubt he'd leave, reckon he's got his feet fully on the ground at Schalke.

Sure, but if we're giving him kudos for starting for Germany based on Germany being a quality side we have to point out that he didn't necessarily do it on merit but instead on attendance. It's not like Germany were without 1-2 players. More like 7-8.

Watched this before. I know it only shows his highlights but everything good seems to come through him. Reckon he'd ft perfect on the left side for us interchanging with Silva from the right.

If you consider how much the scum payed for Rooney at the age of 18 it makes you reason a little with his price tag especially when this lad has over 100 apps for Schalke plus CL apps in a league that has been spoken so highly of over recent months.

This lad will be a superstar

Another destined for Bayern in 12/18 months.

Another reason why we should jump the gun for this lad. Its gonna be quite sad how one sided that league will become.

No. Draxler right now is only behind Müller, Özil, Reus and Götze in the pecking order for that offensive midfield row. He started in the last qualifier against Khasakstan on the left when Reus missed the match and Götze played the false 9. He already left Podolski and Schürrle behind him in the pecking order - and he only is 19.

But Draxler is smart to wait with a move. He made a release clause into his contract to give himself the possibility to leave Schalke somewhen and he even told this to the fans - so he never will come into a Götze/Neuer-situation. But I think he knows that the best place for his development right now is Schalke where he has a starting place guaranteed, can play an important role and learn, play Champions League... I do not know if he already would be a permanent starter in a top club right now.

But he will be a top player. Interesting is that 9 of his 10 goals this season were important - leading goals or equalizers. And he scored 8 of them in the second half of the season - you see his development.

(I do not know if he will go to Bayern somewhen - Bayern actually has a couple of young midfielders coming through in their junior team, too)

-------------

Strikers and direct offensive midfielders is what the big clubs seem to search right now. In the midfielder category it is the Spanish and German players. The best spanish players are already at Barca and Real or already in the EPL - the German players are not for sale (Real and Bayern players, Reus at Dortmund). So even for Draxler - who is still a lot unproven - they would give enormous amounts.

The last transfer year was decent - this year it seems to be different with all the changes in the manager section and with the "failures" of some clubs in the Champions League - and with new money in the EPL.

He'll join the easy ride that is Bayern. Good luck to the lad.

Bayern is not the easy ride. Robben and Ribery have contracts until 2015 and 17. There is Götze, Müller and Shaqiri - and Kroos. For 3 spots in the lineup. As long the situation is like this Draxler is smart enough not to go to Munich. Especially to beat Ribery, Götze and Müller out of the starting is more than difficult.

He will get a huge pay rise and will join the top German team. Unless he wants to go abroad Bayern will be as good as it gets for him, why turn that down?
