Kalvin Phillips

Or is it a case of a very average player having an exceptional 18 months of form which included the Euros?

It would not be the first time a player had a great International Tournament and got a big move that did not work out.

Possibly, but how long do you wait to ensure a player's form isn't a temporary thing? He'd done it for Leeds for a good couple of years, he seemed to be getting better and he had a great international tournament. He seemed a steal at the price and a great squad addition.

I am not sure with his form with Leeds, a lot of their fans could not believe we bought him and they got 40m.

He seemed very much a marmite player, sadly for us he now has become a parody player.

Subbed in at 69 mins 3-1 up, to then lose 4-3 with him at fault for the pen and then the winner. Is there another case of where a footballer has had a worse impact at a club in such a short space of time?
At the moment it feels like in every match the worst that could go wrong, does go wrong!

At this stage he surely needs to go back down to league 1/championship level to build his career back up again.
Oh well when we’re relegated to the conference he’ll fit right in.

It’s amazing what £180k a week can do! He retired after the move mentally. We should have put him to train with reserves last summer to force him to move. Pep has known from week one he won’t play for us. We were too nice.
Shame he didn't realise that before buying him and shipping out a very good youth prospect to make way for him.

He's not related to Jamie Pollack by any chance is he?

It was more than an "unpleasant shoulder issue". He needed invasive surgery on it and he was out for five months. The same thing basically saw Alvaro Negredo off and, as far as I can remember, he didn't need surgery. He scored 23 goals in 35 games between August and January in the 13/14 season but after that shoulder/back injury he picked up against West Ham in the cup it took him another two-and-a-half years (and over 100 more games) to score another 23 goals. And if Phillips' injury was even half as bad then you can see why his form and fitness have both gone off a cliff.
Wonder if he could rock up at Stockport County if they get into League One.

What do you mean much earlier? He had one full season with us and has been loaned out in the next one. Its not like anybody come in with a good offer to buy him. Do you think we should've given him away for free?

You're acting like he's been at City for years doing nothing. He's literally had one season and it didn't work out, so he's out on loan.

Shame you're too daft to understand that.
I stopped caring for Phillips when he slagged off Pep and went crying to the press. Classless.

His performance yesterday was similar to his performance for us against Leicester last season, when he came on for Rodri in the second half and promptly created a chasm in our midfield.

He is not suited to this level and will likely see out his career at a play-off chasing Championship club like West Brom or Norwich.
