Not really sure why the Republicans are playing this game, but the last few weeks have been a disaster for them so I guess it's fitting they keep making stupid decisions.

While I hate to even bring it up, my father-in-law would like a word. He flew transport aircraft in support of the Vietnam War effort. Never saw Vietnam, as he flew into Japan and the Philippines, yet he’s pretty sure he served in the USAF in support of the Vietnam War!

Also, you might want to listen to Republican Adam Kinzinger on military service, what it means, and how spitting mad he is at this disgraceful denigration of 24 fucking years of military service.

Just in case you didn’t know and are simply a parrot, Walz served 24 years. That’s 4 more years than most National Guardsmen, because at 20 yrs you can retire with a full pension.

At 24 years, Walz wanted to run for Congress, so he retired as a Sergeant Major, after reaching the HIGHEST rank of an enlisted serviceman.

Funny, though, isn’t it, that the self-described, flag waving “patriots” are the ones who like to “Swift Boat” people who actually served FOR the flag, while they not only never served, but ran away from the draft?!

And, before you tell me about Vance’s stint “in theatre,” he was a Press Liaison Officer. I’m not knocking his willingness to serve, just keeping it real.

The Right Wing fear is palpable!

It’s an old story from almost 20 yrs ago. He served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Right wingers said he was embellishing his service because he was not stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan, but in Italy! Plenty of people were sent to support the mission at Aviano.

I “served” the war effort, too. Never went to Iraq or Afghanistan, but I airlifted troops to and from their initial staging at Hahn, before they headed to the M.E. (Kuwait, IIRC). Never wore a military uniform, but we did MAC (Military Air Charter) flights in the 747 between the USA-Germany-Kuwait.

Under Trump, am I now a “loser,” or does the fact that I didn’t get shot down make me OK?!

That’s how stupidly pathetic this whole thing is! All they know is ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK, regardless of how stupid it sounds or how vulnerable they are to the same attack. They always want to put Democrats on the defensive so they are put in the position of having to answer their attacks, while Democrats have literally decided “No! This time, WE are going on the attack, because YOU are the ones who need to answer for your weirdness, Project 2025, your record from 2017-2021, and your complete lack of mainstream ideas for ACTUALLY making America what you think makes it great!!”

The election boards report to the state attorney general, who certifies the state results to congress. The election boards have no discretion but must carry out this ministerial action. They just make sure the returns are all present and added up correctly and attempts to delay certification will be met with arrest in states where it is a crime to refuse certification and emergency court action where it is not.
Just this week Maga passed a new ‘rule’ in Georgia for their election board making it easier to delay certification. But Georgia state law renders such “rules” nugatory and the AG will not act on them.
Marc Elias, asked what would happen in these circumstances, said: “We need to be vigilant but I promise you they will not succeed.”
Elias has dedicated his law firm to the defence of democracy and to the upholding of voter rights. For example he has won numerous cases to defeat gerrymandered districts.

It’s a pathetic attempt to try to soil what he has achieved. It’s simple, his hard work, fortitude and commitment to service saw him to one of the highest positions in soldier service. With an impeccable record, this should be the last thing the MAGA/ GOP should be talking about.
