Kamala Harris

So, you're going back 30 years, where citizens didn't necessarily work more than a single job to raise a household compared to now when the average Joe struggles to have $400 for a hospital emergency or live paycheck to paycheck. Yes, people flock to the US, to live better lives as they do to the UK, but I don't recall the UK forcing the funding of drug wars and regime change in neighbouring countries that force that kind of migration. Wars is a given.

Blackrock et al may not be ruining your life, in particular, but then you're not trying to live in starter property in 2024, are you??

This is your comparison from 30 years ago to today for the 'American Dream'?

Okay, thanks.
The homeownership rate in the US is 100 basis points HIGHER today than it was in 1994 and is 1,300 basis points higher than the UK.

Blackstone (not BlackRock) owns less than 1% of the US housing stock — far less, in fact.

Jesus tap dancing Christ, you can’t even get your straw men correct. You are consistently wrong about EVERYTHING.

Why in the fuck would anyone listen to your point of view? You don’t have any command of the facts. Ever.

America really sucks. Where do you suggest one goes for the freedoms and lack of monetary influence on politics?

Looking forward to hearing where we should all be packing our bags for.

The problem, as always, is that warts and all, America is STILL the place most migrants from all over the world WANT to live!?!

If only they received your tutelage on the better places to make something of yourself and live a good life, maybe the border wouldn’t be quite political hot potato it is in this year’s election.

As someone who came from nothing and nowhere, with only the desire to work hard and get some education, I can only tell my ACTUAL FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE of “The American Dream” since 1982…it was real, I embraced it, and I’ve lived it!
Bill Maher had something like this on his 1 hour show on CNN on Saturday night. Probably on YouTube by now. On tonight's show he compared the ideas and deeds of the Founding Fathers (for all their faults) to those turning "Free Gaza" shouts into "down with the USA" and asked the latter "and what the fuck have YOU done?" Not made a country and written a Constitution, that's for sure. Yes, of course the country is imperfect; brilliant of folk to spot that. But when I was teaching in NYC (for 30 plus years after I moved from Manchester, taught American History) my students often told me that it took an outsider to remind them that this is the only country in the world that began life on the astonishing principle that all people ("men", it said in 1776) are created equal. And as incomplete as the journey towards true government of the people, by the people, for the people has been, Americans have still got more freedom to cherish than, let's say, the citizens of Hong Kong where yet another journalist was locked up last week.

OK, I know these arguments are quite bland, Bill Maher was a bit more deliberately provocative, asking how many people are paying smugglers to get into India or Russia, and as for America "even the poor people are fat."

Just a word for you, Chicago, my own story hasn't been the "up by my bootstraps" self-help life that you seem to have achieved, has more to do with the universal free health care ("socialized medicine") of Britain's NHS and a Welfare State that let the son of a coal miner go to university on a government grant - not a student loan, dear Americans, they PAID me to read books for three years! I don't think Kamala Harris will be proposing that one ...

Not really interested in what you have to say. Your 'concern' isn't for the working people of America. Blackstone and Blackrock were interlinked at one point.

But, your arsey response is for getting company names correct, not concern that there's an affordability issue for the lower class. Priorities, eh? More of your flock agreeing over company names, not the struggling citizens. Guess I'm wrong about that too, eh? Just never seen a single sentence posted about the struggling Working Class. Oh well.

Funny thing about companies like Blackstone, that have their tentacles in many pots, even in Europe; they do so undercover and before you know it, they're extracting your wealth from you. You just don't want to talk about cos it would undermine your whole talking point. That's why you scream about "existential threat to democracy" in the mirror reflecting your so-called democracy!

You do that and let your flock follow.

How Biden is doing his darndest to sabotage Kamala's candidacy while pretending not to.

Make of it what you may.
