Keir Starmer

Fair enough.

However there’s still far too many people that will help the Tories by not voting at all if Labour isn’t ideologically pure enough for them. They’re part of the problem.
Can't agree with that Labour just need to get their red wall back and grab some of middle England.

A small number of those on the far left, for want of a better word, that don't vote Labour(bet most would anyhow) won't lose Labour any seats.

One should never give support to a party you are fundamentally in disagreement with.

Labour strongholds will be where most dissolutioned memebers or ex members are in.

As you say non typical labour constituencies is where starmer is targeting, people like me in a safe 25000+ majority seat can vote green if I wanted because I disagree with him and it won't matter. A few hundred not voting labour in safe seat means nowt to the party, getting seats in the home counties or red wall does

Corbyn did well in 2017 because Theresa May was toxic. Also the election happened when students were at their University's - not dispersed around the country back with their Mums and Dads. (They wont ever let that happen again).

When Corbyn went up against someone popular he crashed and burned.

But back to Keir Starmer: it is as if he wants to lose:

Why put the focus on 'green issues'? My parents are in their 70s and due to the demographics of the country so are millions of other people. They don't give a sh1te about 'green issues' because it wont ever effect them.

I'm not going to say it because I'm not rude so I will generalise so hypothetically

Any old parents that don't give a shit about the environment their own kids and grandkids will live in must be cunts. There will be a good chance they will pass these cuntish views on to their offsprings.

Remember this is hypothetical and isn't directed directly at any I'm alright jack fucknut poster on here

I hope you’re both right and that those of the electorate that are on the left that refuse to vote Labour because of fundamental disagreements are too small in number to have an effect on the outcome of the next election.

I’ll be polite and say ‘What a Wanker’. Couldn’t say it any other way than this.

Oh, And I’m in that 45 per cent pay range and at the upper end understand that there are far more lesser well off.

To be so derisory may say a lot about yourself because if you need that extra cash, probably means that you are living well beyond them.
Funny that people on the left can never have a debate without personal insults.

Such deep rooted anger in those amongst the left. Quite sad really.

It's not just those on the "left" who are,or should be angry about the state this country has been put in.

It should be anyone who has a social conscience.

Tiresome bullshit from the I'm alright Jack's is irritating.

This is not just about green issues and you are missing a rather important point which is about sustainability. We don't have any where near enough amounts of natural resources to be able to become self sustainable in terms of energy. The Tories are flogging a dead horse with shale gas it will never work and they know it but its funding the party kowtow this backwards ideology.

Its a bold move from Keir but it puts a clear water between labour and tories and I think it will work.

Good point. @hgblue shouldn't be victimised here.

It is a smart move by Starmer, in absolute terms because there really is no option, in ideological terms because it throws a bone to the progressive wing of the party, having continually kicked them in the bollocks since winning the leadership, and in realpolitik terms because the Tories can't counter with the "it'll raise your bills!" Bollocks, coz their copy book is well blotted in that department.

Interesting. You mustn’t have read any of my posts and come trampling into the thread with your hobnail boots. I am no leftie, and neither am I a rightie, I’m somebody who changes as things progress. And what I’m seeing over the least few years isn’t progression, it’s actually killing our country.
