Whats a plastic labour voter? Is it the ones that decide whether we get get a tory or a labour government. If it is think appealing to them is quite important.
Who is he trying to appeal to though.
He has purged the left and alienated the moderates. The party has a real problem as its voting base is two distinct entities. It has the support of the metro liberals in the big cities, but sacrificed the traditional small c social conservatives in the red wall. It was why Labour was so ambigous over Brexit, it could not possibly appeal to both entities as it stood. It ended up losing the red wall but consolidating the metropolitan vote.
There is also the fall out from the disgraceful behaviour of the staffers at Party HQ to come. There actions in destroying the chance of a Labour victory in the election before last will have reverberations across the party that could be catastrophic. They are the ones to blame for this Johnson shit show as they actively worked against the party they were paid to serve. The enquiry if it ever sees the light of day could well destroy Starmer especially if it shows he was one of the active plotters against his own party. Notice how Watson has all but disappeared as he is rumoured to be one of the major players behind it. If it does get really dirty and the Labour party love to throw dirt about then its game over.
There is a hell of a lot more dirty washing to be aired yet and i actually feel sorry for Starmer, he has the LOTO job at possibly the worst time in the parties history but he hasn't helped himself with some of the decisions he has made. He may well appeal to voters the party need to win to gain power, but he is gaining those votes at the expense of others that he also needs to gain power. He is stuck, he has nowhere to go without risking alienating even more parts of the party. Just recently a large number of Jewish Socialists were purged from the party, i posted about it but it was mostly ignored, he is facing calls from Muslim members that the party is unwelcoming to them, he has Rayner threatening to suspend thousands of members and a Chairman who Starmer picked who is proving to be possibly the most authoritarian in the parties history. Membership has fallen by as much as 50% and there does not appear any coherent plan other than to abstain and lick Johnsons arse. Even on BREXIT now as much as I am in favour of it, Starmer should have opposed it, because he didn't support it in the first place and to wave it through now looks hypocritical.
And finally we had Rayner the other day literally begging on twitter for people to campaign, to deliver the leaflets and all backed up by a ridiculous photoshop of Corbyn rally. Reality is hitting home, they know they have lost many of the people who did the hard yards and they have no replacements, the party sadly is fucked. It breaks my heart to see it in such a sorry state and I honestly do not see a way back for the party for a generation and that is of the party survives at all.
