Keir Starmer

Keith has just been on LBC, he did quite well I thought.

He was in good humour, polite and charming. He needs to do more though, much much more.

He's appalling. As the country suffers with one of the worst governments in living memory, they are still ahead in polls as nobody has any confidence in this weak ineffectual man. He's a total disaster.
His backing of calls for Sturgeon to resign before the inquiry delivered it's verdict, whilst saying Hancock didn't need to after he was actually found guilty of breaking the ministerial code, sums the prick up. He has shown us what we have known for 14 years, they are a fucking joke. Labour up here didn't win a single seat in Holyrood, depending on the list system. They are in for an absolute tanking in six weeks. And as usual, it's all self inflicted, you lie down with Tories thankfully there is one part of these islands that makes you pay the price. And that price has been devastating. They never fucking learn. The only way Labour up here can recover is two fold.

1. Support independence,
2. Get rid of the cunts who have killed it and get back to supporting the people the party was set up.to defend.

If they don't, they will continue to be an irrelevance politically. As a former member of Labour it saddens me that right wing factions up here killed it. Until they are deposed, there is only one way their trajectory is heading and you don't need a crystal ball to see it's down.

Once upon a time Keir Rodney Starmer could have been the right man for Labour.
But not now.
In various parallel universes I believe he could have won the 2010 election for Labour, kept Cameron in coalition in 2015 and beat Mavis in 2017.
He has come to power after his time.
I don't think he can fundamentally change his politics or personality and so the Tories look set to be in power for at least a generation more.
Maybe a politically astute Dan Jarvis or Clive Lewis could be/have been a better choice.
Still you never know and I wish him all the best as I would rather have a Rodney led Labour party in power than the current gangster party.

He’s fucking hopeless.
Because of who i am , i always try and look for positives, i have tried really hard to find positives in him. I have used the excuse its a hard time to be LOTO but he is failing and he is failing badly. Occasionally I feel a bit sorry for him, because he has taken over a party riven by splits and rancour. The blame falls on the PLP who did everything they could to get rid of Corbyn rather than support him. They were more scared of a Labour victory under Corbyn than they were a Tory victory. The whole lot of them need clearing out because the party is dying, it breaks my heart to see it but I cant support Labour anymore, they just don't represent me.

Labour was always reported in the media to be infiltrated from the left, but it wasn't, it was infiltrated by the metro liberals and brexit broke the Labour party far more than the EU issue ever broke the Tories.

Didn't go the way he expected this post, despite the view from many here, the right and alt right presence on social media is vast and he was shot down straight away with a barrage of jimmy savile and rotherham comments.

As he has lost any good favour amongst the left and the centrists are mainy non political as long as they are doing alright, he has little support or people that stick up for him when attacked on platforms

His alienation of one wing of the party and fence sitting that caused apathy amonst many of the rest really has made him a nowhere man

You’ve called him Keith from day 1.
Only now, after he is getting pelters from all angles are you trying to be a bit more balanced.

the election is miles away, he will be stronger nearer time. Labour tried a true left wing socialist last election and it didn’t come close to knocking the Tories off their perch. Labour have to appeal to the middle ground to have any chance.

But he is showing no signs of appealing to the middle ground in any way.

The election is 3.5 years away, he was already on an uphill struggle with it 5 away, and has done little to progress the partys, standing while losign the faith of most of those that campaign loyally for it.

Unless he suddenly learns to be less than invisible and bland or pulls some policy rabbot out of a hat to trump tge tories labour are gonna lose quite easily next election.

The 2024 GE is the first in my lifetime where I am actually not in any way confident or hopefull of the tories being kicked out.

The local elections should be a barometer.

Although they are separate from the GE they have been used in the past to show an unofficial referendum.

I have no faith that Starmer has done enough to make it look like a labour dominated election night.

When he gets battered and Boris grandstands on it Friday morning the usual suspects will be out defending him rather than baying for a party overthrow because he's a safe bet for the establishment.

It’s not always the leader that people don’t have confidence in. It’s his surrounding MPs, it’s their local MPs, it could be that they do have faith in the Labour Party but are sick of the people who vote for them.

I agree but the buck stops with him and ultimately in a general election that's who the majority of people vote for. They have a perfect chance to oppose a raft of new laws that are being brought in under the covid smokescreen that are going to impact on people's civil liberties and are causing a lot of disquiet. He's scared to do so as he knows Boris and his mob will say he doesn't care about people's health and safety. He provides no opposition, leaving people utterly helpless come an election.

A weak man who thought being tough to an already defeated left would make him look strong, instead it made him look Tory and the party he nominally leads is haemorrhaging members.

So what solution does Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KCB QC MP have? He's getting in to bed with Peter Benjamin Mandelson, Baron Mandelson PC to re-launch New Labour.

You might be too young to remember this.

It's unbelievably cheesy, but the optimism was very real....

And they fucking pissed it all away.

I think that massive losses in the locals will be a reflection on Johnson and his cabal rather than any approval rating of Starmer sadly
