Keir Starmer

Listening to Keith on James 0'Briens full disclosure podcast.

He comes across as thoroughly decent, quite reserved, humble and diligent.

The exact antithesis of the lying narcissist we currently have ruining the country.
"But he protects nonces!"

That will be the line used In the GE should he still be leader.

It was a given as he was very well thought of.

However, the doorsteppers got a bit of stick about Starmer from what one of union comrades who campaigned told me.

They were saying they couldbt connect with him. The Sir title makes him sound more Tory than a labour leader.
It’s interesting the lack of coverage of this. Labour hold the seat and although a low turnout they increase their vote share yet hardly a word from the media.

As someone who has voted 'both' ways in previous elections (more often Tory than Labour) there is no way this current bunch of Tories is getting my vote again. Up until fairly recently, I really didn't know who I would vote for but I can say now that if an election were held tomorrow it would be Labour under Starmer that would be getting my vote.

Edit - I suspect some on the left will be appalled that I would vote Labour :-)

He's the anti Boris in many ways.

However if elected he won't make any real change for the people that voted for him. Even if he manages a Blair like first term majority. Like Biden he will promise so much and deliver little.

There's more chance that he will deliver beneficial changes than Johnson.

As for Biden, he's delivered a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, $1.9 trillion Covid relief package, appointed a record number federal judges (mostly women and of colour), frozen federal executions, re-signed up to the Paris Climate Accord and reduced unemployment from 6.3% to 3.9%. He just doesn't boast about everything like his predecessor.

If Starmer achieves anything like this much in his first year I suspect most people will be reasonably happy.
