Keir Starmer

Nobody gets worked up by flags and nobody tells anyone they don't need to display them. It's the same with poppies. The hard right pretent there is an issue when there isn't one and a lie becomes the truth.

You would need to explain the “flagshaggers” posts then which are fairly common on here and from the most left leaning amongst us.

It’s a term coined to describe the people that put more importance in flags than is healthy.

The hypothetical flag hierarchy was a good example.

Sounds like he's given it as much thought as the seating plan at a royal wedding.

It takes less time to order and erect the flags.

People want to change the flag, call people flag shaggers for wanting to display them.

Do keep up.

It’s not a term I use but I think “Flag shaggers” are people who pretend that they are somehow being stopped from waving their own flag when nobody actually gives a shit apart from them.

It’s not mate.

It’s anyone who has the audacity to be seen with the Union Jack. Normally Tories but now we have Starmer doing it, he is also the target for those on the left who like to use the term “flag shaggers” as they desperately try to paint them into some sort of right wing nationalistic corner.

It might not be right wing nationalism but it's faux nationalism, Starmer is looking to cynically collect votes from former Brexit party or UKIP voters such as @mexico1970.

Reformed Brexit voters such as yourself have already been won over.

Is this the winning strategy to take back the red wall?

In your opinion it might be but I can only speak for myself, I’m not faux anything when it comes to our country/nation and our flags.

Enjoying them and being proud of them is nothing to be ashamed of.
