Keir Starmer

Hmmmm fair enough you oracle you.... oh to be so clever and informed... lets wait until May 8th to judge what the country thinks of Starmer shall we?
It’s local elections. If you’re using it as a referendum on the national government more fool you.
My vote will be based on local issues and is likely to be for the Lib Dem candidate because he’s a very hard working councillor who has a record of getting things done.

Same here.

We’ve got a Lib Dem council and while nowhere is perfect and there’s always the usual moaning about bins and potholes like every other town in the country, on the whole compared to a lot of other places I think they’re doing a remarkably good job and deserve my vote.

Cue the idiots of course thinking that voting Reform in Newton Heath or Blackburn or wherever will somehow “stop the boats”.

The small boat crossings that are a direct result of Brexit of course but that’s for another thread.

Obviously not.... I don't agree that for the most part the public are ignorant thick morons, even still they do have a vote and for the most part they won't be voting Labour (just a feeling I have).
Or, in your case, a hope that you have. A very deep-rooted hope.

He will no doubt get crushed get kicked out and for what ??????? Another person to look out for themselves and there good pals ........... anyone here seen the film Cromwell with Richard Harris ????
His speech at the end sums this lot up in a nutshell :( we are pawns in there sad little games................ now im off to pull to bits some Rag or some Leeds barstewards rather waste my energy on that other some twats who dont give a shizzer

He’s basically crap at politics, which makes sense when you consider his background is in law and he was effectively a civil servant as chief prosecutor.

The positives of this have shown through with Iran and his quite remarkable international diplomacy from day one, and the negatives have shown through with his shit management of staff, domestic political issues and comms.

I think he’s just overly cautious. Sometimes that helps you not get into a war with Iran, sometimes it stops you from acting decisively in politics and you end up u turning over everything. Sometimes he’s lucky and his caution turns out to be correct, sometimes he gets caught out by it. The one time he wasn’t cautious seems to be appointing Mandelson remarkably.

His biggest strength is that he’s not a fucking lunatic or lying grifter, which remarkably sets him apart from every other political leader in the UK right now.

I think Labours best chance of remaining in power long term is to let Starmer stop the rot, let the civil service gradually fix what the tories broke and then replace Starmer with someone who has a bit more charisma and a positive vision for the country. Polanski has shown a positive vision, even if loosely defined, is just as popular as Reforms fearmongery.

I can’t really disagree with that.

Gordon Brown had a similar personality, and I had a lot of time for him.

Classic, make something up to suit your bias and then hide behind google. I’ll leave you in your fantasy world. Have a good evening.
I certainly will. Anyone remotely interested can Google is Keir Starmer the worst PM ever, but you can't be arsed. You utter troll.

Changing names can be a real pain eh?
It just means you something to hide

it seems a lot if people base there opinion on what the Gutter press print . Are you one of them instead of looking at facts like i posted.

I don't like the guy. But the worst PM ever? He's not even the third worst in the last 10 years.

Troll lol. Well, I took your advice and Googled worst uk pm ever. Guess what? Starmer not even on the list, but Thatcher, Eden, Chamberlain and more recently, Johnson and Truss.

Blow me down

Did he seek all the details and facts before he sacked Olly Robbins?
He's very forensic i believe so obviously yes, he is also remarkable because he didn't go to war with Iran just like 95% of the people on here said we shouldn't.

Can't argue with that logic really :-)

You would seriously debate that Starmer is a worse PM than Johnson or Truss. Seriously?
Absolutely. But my point was that is what the public think.

FWIW, I think Johnson was a buffoon and some of the things he did, diabolical. Signing us up to net zero and letting immigration run rip, as probably the worst two. But he was ultimately a conservative who understood that you do not grow an economy by taxing people to death. So that puts him in front of Starmer straight off.

Truss is seriously unfairly maligned. Her mini budget was along the right lines - with savvy commentators now recognising that the BoE was largely to blame. Her mistake was not preparing the ground for it. And it was sunk by that utter buffoon Andrew Bailey who threw her under the bus, in very stark contrast to how he's bent over backwards to bail Rachel Reeves out. But her idea to cut taxes to get through economy out of this malaise it's been in for 20 years, was not daft. The markets panicked because stupidly she didn't seek their buy-in in advance. They didn't like her borrowing to fund day to day spending until tax receipts would start to rise as the economy grew. Her plan needed selling. I think she would have been a decent PM given time. I don't think Starmer could ever be a decent PM. I also happen to think he's deeply dishonest but time will tell.
