Keir Starmer

Untrue there are plenty of loud voters on here, a complete fabrication. Is it only a voter that should possess or state an opinion?
I'll stick with my many years' experience of actually knocking on doors rather than what happens on here, thanks all the same.

Looks like for the first time there will be Nationalist governments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the same time by Friday next week. Not sure what difference that might make in England other than a potential surge towards English Nationalism by some.

The Labour leader in Scotland has already gone on record asking Starmer to stand down such is the state of the party in Scotland. There has even been 'chatter' up here about some kind of agreement with Reform to help ensure SNP don't get a majority. Thats denied btw. For the first time in my life I am choosing the party that is least bad rather than a positive choice Despite all that I can't see SNP getting an overall majority (proportional representation) so likely another collaboration with the Greens.

My thinking around independence these days is that until the SNP government can demonstrate that they can deliver complex change then they have no chance of getting the majority support they need irrespective of what the polls say. They have seriously failed in the years since Covid. If you cant look after building a couple of ferries what chance forming an independent country?
Wish the North of England from Whitby across to Preston could join the Scottish Nationalists, leave the rest to wallow in this excuse of a Labour Party.

BBC reporting a "large group of protestors" jeering Starmer as he arrived at Golders Green.
Looked more like a dozen people with some cardboard signs.
Where has that thread gone about the terror attack? I thought I’d posted earlier but mustn’t have.

I couldn’t give a fuck either to be honest, there’s not a single party out there worth my vote. Probably won’t bother.
I've always felt the same. For years now I've voted informally because to me it genuinely didnt make much a difference between Labour and Tories.

I kind of feel that attitude doesnt work for me in the current environment. For me, its so important that the Restore/Reform grifters dont succeed I'll suck it up for the first time in 30 years and vote for a party that doesnt deserve my vote.

Just not sure which one yet.

How do you vote “informally “? Wear a pair of jeans?

Good work and im sure your one vote will swing it:-)

When I read the first sentence, I thought you meant Starmer. And I would have agreed. I feel exactly the same about Starmer as you do about Johnson. I am no fan of Johnson's either, mind you. He was a bumbling, scuffy oaf with few redeeming features. But not *none*. He did actually get Brexit done, and he did actually IMO do an OK job at managing our COVID response, including mopping up available vaccine supplies faster than our EU counterparts.
He only mopped up vaccine supplies by getting Astra Zeneca to break their contract with the EU.

If Starmer can weather this current storm the governments lot may well improve. What I would say is since he binned off McSweeney the government has been less calamitous and we’ve had a couple of positive bits of news on the economy (drowned out by the Mandelson stuff).

Make no mistake he is in the last chance saloon, looks like his last roll of the dice will be to bring Rayner in as part of his mini reshuffle to appease many of the back benchers. He will know it will bring a lot of negative headlines when it happens but IF they stop fucking up and IF the economy improves then the polls might start looking at bit more positive.
Rayner needs the HMRC verdict of "inadvertent".
