can someone tell me if these links to the Belgium side mean

A. He didn't get a work permit for the uk?
B. We didn't apply for a permit>
C. its a back up if he fails to get a permit under the special taleent rule?
Thanks in advance.

D. if he doesn't get a work permit now, how many years does he have to spend in Belgium til he gets one?

Without looking it up, I think a player gets a work permit if he plays 75% of games for his national team over a 2 year period, providing the team is ranked in FIFA's top 70. Nigeria were 37th lat time I looked. Otherwise, they get the special talent panel to sit to advise the Home Office.

One would have hoped that the CFG would have worked the diplomatic back channels to get it sorted, what with the current IS crisis going on. You know the sort of thing, "yes, you can use our airbases during the current conflict, but first, sign this work permit application". :-)

Thanks, so it's very much a case of he could be granted a special talent WP at any time? Hopefully he gets one straight away, he really should.

It will also be very interesting to see if he gets selected for Nigeria at African Cup of Nations! Assuming that Nigeria have qualified!

They are still doing qualifying and Kelechi has not been selected, the coach is cited as giving the reason that Kelechi left them in the lurch last time to join us on the US tour. He has also said he will be part of there larger plans for AFCON but this is a form of punishment as a one off. This has not been met kindly by many others related to the Nigerian national side including ex players. I believe Taribo West has been the most vociferous about this.

On Keshi's Reasoning said:
A close associate to Super Eagles Interim Coach, Stephen Keshi has revealed to SL10.ng why the coach is not willing to consider Kelechi Iheanacho for the team.
Our source said Keshi initially had Iheanacho in his plans, post World Cup commitment, but his failure to listen to Keshi’s advice angered him.
“Was it not Keshi who called up Iheanacho last year against all odds and complains?” he asked.
“Are you aware that Iheanacho would have gone to the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) early this year? But he absconded from Camp to push through his move to Man City .
“Keshi advised him to stay until after CHAN and improve his worth but he ignored and wasted a good chance, maybe he might have gone to the World Cup.
“He is paying for it now, because the CHAN would have been the best avenue to introduce him to the Eagles with less pressure, the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers are too dicey to gamble on a youngster.”
However, he assured that Keshi still has Iheanacho within his sight but only after qualification for the Nations Cup is guaranteed.
“No sane coach will ignore such a special talent but he isn’t worth the gamble of risking our qualifiers, after that he will be considered.”

Opinion of his U-17 & U20 coach said:
At sweet 18 today, Kelechi Iheanacho has the football world at his feet. The Manchester City starlet has now come of age and can now sign a professional contract with the English Premier League champions.
The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup MVP has already come of age during City’s pre-season training tour of the United States of America with a couple of goals and an assured all-round performance.
Like AfricanFootball.com first broke, after a training stint at MLS side Colombus Crew, he will be loaned out by City when the transfer window reopens in January. He scores goals, has vision and a good dribble as well as packs a powerful shot in his left boot.
However, the debate has raged on whether he is ripe enough to be capped at full international level.
Coach Stephen Keshi has said he is not and he has therefore not called him up for this month’s AFCON qualifiers. His coach at both U-17 and U-20 level, Manu Garba, will disagree, though.
“The Super Eagles can give Kelechi (Iheanacho) a chance. He is a highly promising talent and Nigeria could really get a lot out of him even at this stage of his career. Personally, I believe he is more talented than most of the top stars at Manchester City, who are only more experienced than he is,” said Manu.
He added: “I’m yet to see a player of his age who can score goals around the 18-yard box with such class and composure like he does. In training with the U-17s, he often scores four, five goals. I’m therefore not surprised that more people are now talking about him.”
Iheanacho’s strike partner at the U-17 World Cup, Taiwo Awoniyi, will also praise him.
“He will soon prove himself in the EPL once given the chance. I’m not surprised at all by what Kelechi has shown at City because he has a great foundation provided by our coaches. He is a close friend and all my goals at the U-17 World Cup were from assists provided by him,” said Awoniyi.
What is most certainly not in dispute is that sooner rather than later he will make his Super Eagles debut and a bright future beckons for him as long as he keeps his feet grounded.

For info, the special talent panel is conveniently anonymous, and in recent years has applied a preposterous interpretation of the rules to rubber stamp deals for such footballing luminaries as Angel Henriquez (who he?). In essence, they have bent over backwards to accommodate the rags and the Arse. On that basis I fully expect them to reject any application from City as a matter of course.......

I seem to remember that Messrs Bassett & Pleat were among those who rejected a permit for our last candidate - McDonald Mariga, only for their decision to be reversed when it was too late for him to sign for us (In retrospect we probably dodged a bullet there tho')

Our owners were quite low key and conciliatory over FFP. I think they were playing the long game.

If we get fcuked over on this one, though, I hope they unleash the attack dogs.

MCFC OK.

If Gill succeeds in his bid for FIFA position heaven help us ....... So the attack dogs should be biting now before the RB gets a chance to use more power against us!!!

quotes from the beginning of september

Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said that Iheanacho, 17, is training with the Crew to maintain fitness before rejoining the Barclays Premier League side in mid-October.
