So what the news on this guy? Is he still injured? For how long?

The guy is harder to pin down than Berti, Good luck finding any relevant info.
Lol, he was always on the bench and Kelechi.. We never know where he is. He's like invisible man. 3 games and no other squad-list making for City teams in more than a year is something special.

And I can't remember if he played a game for Nigerian national teams for this period, is it u17, u20 or u23

Kelchi watch update: Various sources carrying these quotes below following Nigeria U20 team recent tournament win and qulification to U20 world cup.

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba has stated that Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will have to fight for his place in the team if he wants to be part of the party to FIFA U-20 World Cup later this year.

The national U-20 side on Sunday won the Afican Youth Championship for a record seventh time and they also booked their place in the World Cup as well.

However, Iheanacho missed out on the tournament through injury and Garba stressed that it will be hard for the highly talented forward to displace the players that have done so well thus far.

“Kelechi Iheanacho is a player that we need and I have said this several times but he is not guaranteed of a shirt here. He has to work as hard as the other players and it will be very difficult.

“When we started this team; during the qualifiers, it was difficult for him to break into the team and he was always coming from the bench. And this time it will be very difficult because we shall be preparing for the World Cup and he must have to fight to deserve a place here,” Garba said.

Named in Nigerias provisional 35 man squad for the U20 WC in May
He was also named as one of the players alongside Kompany & Clichy who gave the finishing touches to that spiffing mural around the CFA :) So he's still there somewhere.

That also answers Cityislands question farther up ;)

Considering how big a part of the U17 championship he played, it would be quite weird for them to not pick him, at least for their provisional squad.

Nwakali is also picked for the squad.

Has now returned to individual light training

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manchester City wonder-kid Kelechi Iheanacho , 18, is set to be given the green-light by the medical team of The Citizens to resume full training with their youth team after being on the treatment table for close to two months.

Against Schalke 04 in the UEFA Youth League on February 24, the Nigeria youth international was forced to leave the pitch 11 minutes after his introduction due to an ankle injury.

The striker is well on his road to recovery, having started individual training under the supervision of Manchester City's medical team.

''Kelechi Iheanacho has started individual training under the watchful eyes of Manchester City's medical team and fitness expert,'' a source close to the Flying Eagles star told SL10.ng.

''As the training progresses, they'll be working on his fitness.

''Regarding him joining the Flying Eagles, there's no date yet until they ascertain his fitness level.

''After the individual training, he will train with the reserves or youth team.''

With Kelechi Iheanacho missing from the line-up, Manchester City's Under 19 squad failed to qualify for the semi-final of the UEFA Youth League, losing 2-1 to Roma in the last eight of the competition.

The Taye Academy product missed the African Youth Championship on account of injury

do you not think we should allow this young lad to make he jumps up o the 1st team next season ?? understudy to Aguero and Bony for me would be a fantastic way of allowing him to gain experience and learn from these 2

For me he should be included next season as he will be fresh, an unknown quantity and will bring that sense of urgency and pace of the bench when needed. Along with Denayer, Rekik and Lopes I think next season is the time to bring these guys through.
