Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

Perhaps because DeBruyne is better at passing the ball long or/and is better at carrying the ball from deep.

Could also be the case that the more withdrawn role requires a higher level of fitness?
I don't think Debryune is better at carrying the ball from deep, nor do I think he shoes greater fitness. Neither of the 2 tend to be long ball passers, albeit admittedly Debryune is more likely to go long.

@schfc6 described Debryune's style above as "outstanding interspersed with frustration." I agree with that characterization. And would further suggest the "frustration" part often occurs when he loses the ball cheaply. Thus, in deciding who gets more FaceTime nearer our goal, I'd have thought the guy who was most judicious with possession will get that nod. As was the case earlier on the season.

As for the Isco thingy, yes yes its been my dream too. :)

What I mean by that is when Silva receives he doesn't tend to carry, he looks to release and then make space to receive again. When DeBruyne receives he tends to let the ball run by and turn in one movement hence the speed at which the ball goes forward tends to be quicker than Silva in that position.

Just an observation mate as to why Pep might think it works better that way.

The fitness thing was more down to age, it's not something I've particularly noticed either.

Ah! I see your point.

Clear man of the match for me. Played a big part in both goals, hit the post twice, linked defence to attack and had excellent movement. Think people are overreacting with him, he had a very good game.

This.

Was exellcent. Very unlucky with the post this season. I think he's hit it 8 times. Maybe even more. Already has 11 assists, leading the league. Yes he gives away a few balls. But he is a game changer. Even in games where he is off form and everyone slags him off he creates at least 2 clear chances to win the game. De bruyne is world class. If we were more clinical this season he would at least 20 assists by now. Pep keeps saying that we are creating so many chance. KDB is one of the main reasons for this.

My biggest issue with KDB is his mentality, the reverse game against Chelsea was a prime example. When he misses or misplaces a few passes, his confidence goes to shit, and he retreats into his shell rather than continually demanding the ball.

Really hope he puts in a top class performance tomorrow.

We'd be as well playing Kevin Kilbane this season. Really disappointing run of form when we've needed him most. Not even getting the basics right and that's before we talk about his lack of work rate. Don't know what's up,with him but this isn't the player we bought.

His formhas completely fallen off a cliff and he just doesn't look interested anymore. I don't think he enjoys playing for us.. Should have been dropped weeks ago.

needs dropping end of

his form has been pretty rubbish for the past majority of the season.......

either needs a rest or a kick up the arse

Jose, in my mind the biggest c*nt in the world, is many many things.
A poor judge of gut and character in a player? No, I guess he probably nailed that one in shipping out KDB

Lovely footballer with the potentially to be absolutely cut-throat.

But has the fight and mentality of a player who should still be at Wolfsburg. Horrendous trait in a player and one even the so called best cannot coach out of him

He's been poor, no doubt about that. Who do we drop him for though? None of the potential midfIeld replacements offer anything, at least KDB can still come up with moments of magic. I'd like to see Kelechi in the side but Pep won't go with two up top.

Fast turning into a Belgian Beckham, not strong enough or hard working for centre midfield but a terrific passer and crosser.

Very weird footballer. His all-round performances are generally hit or miss or even poor but he can still affect the game anytime because of his unstoppable delivery & killer passing.

Seems like a luxury player rather than someone you should build a team around like Hazard for example.

The new Nasri.

You know you are a fraud when Hazard shows more bite to a 50/50 than you.

Turns up when he feels like it. Passenger.

He's fine when all is going well in a game but he hides far too often. He will be great for the first 2/3 months of next season before he runs out of steam again.
