Kolarov played out of his skin tonight

Anyone who thinks Kolarov is the worst left full back we've ever had hasn't been watching City that long. The best left full back I remember was Pardoe, but there's been a whole host of tossers in the role since he got crocked. Kolarov is actually one of the best half-dozen since then.

4 goals and 6 assists isn't too shabby for a full back IMO. For comparison Richards has 1 goal and 7 assists, Clichy 0 goals and 1 assist.

But Richards doesn't take any corners or direct free kicks neither does Clichy and neither of them came with the label of a dead ball specialist.

Oh and as Tolmie says, this prick cost us £17m, god knows how many goals and points in comparison to Richards and Clichy who cost us fuck in the scheme of things.

How about this - Kolorov is the worst left back I've ever seen to grace a city shirt!

I'm assuming you don't go or you sit behind a goal. Kolarov played the second half in front of where I sit, and he was dragging us forward every time he eventually got the ball. His desire was far greater than that of most. Whilst providing quality, he also provided shape wide and an attacking force, as did Richards.
Kolarov is a decent player, not brilliant I admit but questioning his attributes & effectivness are just daft. Assists are very subjective. Whilst not getting an assist for many goals we have scored, Kolarov has played a key part in many goals. As he did last night.

Is Kolarov worse defensively than Baines, Cole, Evra or Clichy? There is no evidence to suggest he is. Yes he makes the occasional mistake, who doesn't? You mention Lescott, he was a fault for more goals in the first month of the season than Kolarov has been since he joined. Don't get me wrong, I love Lescott and think he's class, my point is, everyone makes mistakes. Even Kompany and Hart. How can people point the finger at Kolarov for our elimination and not Hart? His mistake cost us every bit as much. Hart palming the ball into play has cost us how many goals? All players make mistakes. If you didn't see Kolarov's desire to win last night, and the impact his crossing was having on the game, then I'm suggesting you were either not there or know very little about football.

Kolarov defensively is good, there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. His free kicks are very dangerous, his corners too.
I know you're going to come back with but he hits the first man, or how many free kicks has he scored? If he scores 3-5 free kicks a season that is a decent total especially when he only plays half the games. How many goals/assists does Bains get? Dani Alves get? Maicon get? You will find they get similar or less to Kolarov and all play in a defences that concede far more.

You seem to be a typical fan, moan at everything, fail to see any type of bigger picture. I wouldn't be surprised if you were the buffoon sat behind me slagging Mancini for bringing off the woeful and uninterested Johnson for De Jong. I'm guessing you love the 442, get it forward quickly, get bloody stuck in, shoot on sight policy that unfortunately lingers throughout the stadium.

i can hear you now, shoooot when the ball is 35 yards from goal.

Good post and you're right so many people fail to see the bigger picture.

They see Kolarov get beaten once (maybe twice) and it's 'HE WAS DESTROYED THE WHOLE GAME'. Last night he wasn't great in the first half (as I said) but in the second he didn't do anything wrong really defensively and contributed the majority of the attacking play.

Never seen such outrageous reactions about a player ever.

Kolarov is an absolute disgrace defensively. He lacks any form of positional awareness, he takes "schoolboy" risks when he clearly has a safer alternative and the worst thing for me is his inability to stop crosses coming into the box. You look at Clichy defensively and as soon as his opponent gets the ball he's there, he gets tight to his man and panics him into making a decision even if it's just playing a safe ball backwards. Kolarov on the other hand just allows his man time on the ball to get his head up and pick out a cross, no amount of attacking qualities can compensate for his lack of defensive ability. People who say it's an over reaction to one game, it's game in game out only some mistakes don't get punished.

Sorry, but Wayne Bridge takes that particular biscuit and he cost £12m!

I see nobody has even mentioned Kolarov's disgraceful conduct last night answering and swearing back at Mancini in the second-half?

Was it any worse than Pizzaro shouting at everyone, Balotelli arguing with Mancini or Yaya getting booked for shouting at the ref over a clear foul?
Just saying it looked like most of our team were in a bad mood last night from the first whistle.

Just like at Swansea....

I prefer Clichy myself but his defending of the Swansea goal was shocking. If Kolarov defended like that there would be threads about how crap he is.Not one about Clichy.

There's so much shite to filter through in those posts that frankly I can't be arsed responding to all of it so I'll answer some of the main points.

Maybe he's not the worst left back we've ever had, that was a tad OTT on my part so I apologise but it doesn't distract away from the fact that he's still nowhere near the required standard.

Out of the 4 full backs that have been mentioned, I would have any of them in our squad over him anyday and it just so happens that 2 of the 4 you mentioned are regarded as possibly the best in the world when at their peak (Evra & Cole).

I go to every home game, league and cup so I've seen first hand just how many times he shoots with so much power and not much accuracy (he tried it last night in the dying minutes which fortunately took a slight deflection and we got a corner), or how many times his set pieces or corners don't get past the first defender and yet on the rare occasions it does find his intended target (usually some space in front of the goal and not an individual) he's wanked over.

I slag Mancini off when he makes tactical decisions that I don't agree with like last night. I agreed with taking Johnson off and putting De Jong on but then why wait 10 mins before bringing Dzeko on for Pizarro who had been dreadful all night. Also against Swansea, he waited until they scored in the 83rd minute before making a positive substitution by which time there's very little time left for any player to make any sort of impact on the game.

Kolorov was run ragged last night up until Sporting scored their second goal and then they sat back as they knew that the damage had been done. This in turn allowed him to push forward along with the rest of the team in the second half but I think this was down to the manager realising his fuck up in the first half rather than Kolorovs desire to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Just because most of his mistakes go unpunished doesn't mean to say that he does not make loads.

If Kolorov was a horse, he would have been put down by now.

The goal came from Nasri's man who got the cross over, not Clichy's. Although I do admit Clichy did get the wrong side of Routledge for the penalty decision, however this is one of very few mistakes throughout the season. If you want any proof of Kolarov's blatant inability defensively I suggest you watch the Napoli game at home, that was the single worse defensive display from a fullback I have ever witnessed at the highest level. There is 9 seperate incidents were he is caught with players in behind him.

Kolarov run ragged by Sporting?

They sat back, contained and time wasted for almost the entire game

As usual a few imbeciles made their verdict on the player after a handful of games, and are now being proved wrong, but are unable to admit it
