Kolarov

Can't shoot or cross! Have you ever seen Kolarov play?

Name a full-back with a better shot. Marcelo perhaps. Any others?

OK he's struggling with his game a bit, but he's at least a good squad player
By better shot do you mean shooting accuracy or just hitting it really really hard?

12 goals in 93 appearances (all comps) says that his shooting ability is nowhere near enough to make up for his shitness in defence.

Let's put it this way, if he was available to buy now - with the way he's played for us - would we buy him as a back-up LB (y'know, the pick up the slack for if Clichy was to have a serious injury) ?

I - and the fact that Juventus aren't even prepared to spend 6m on him - say no.

Fabio Coentrao, Taye Taiwo, John Arne Riise, Leighton Baines, Dani Alves, Darijo Srna, Kyle Walker, Maicon, Glen Johnson are all up there

And the REALLY amazing thing is that his goalscoring record is better for us than it was for Lazio. They must have been pissing themselves laughing when they sold him to us.

<italian accent*>'Ciao Roberto........ you wanna buy-a some magic-a beans'............

It goes down with a few emotional purchases that Roberto made from former clubs that have backfired (along with Mario & Maicon). The sooner he gets another job, the sooner we get Javi Garcia, Kolarov & Sinclair off the books.

:)

*My sincerest apologies to fake Italians like ACMilan

One thing is for sure , the continued show of affection from some of the City faithful towards him will no doubt help him to regain his form.

Indeed, even more ridiculous when he's being compared to fucking Clichy.

Here's their records over the past two seasons, playing with the same squad.

Kolarov, 41 starts, 7 goals and 9 assists. So a goal or assist every 2.56 starts.
Clichy, 70 starts, 0 goals and 6 assists. So a goal or assist every 11.67 starts.

That means Kolarov is 4.55 times more likely than Clichy to bag you a goal or assist. It's not even remotely close. Going forward Kolarov is a much better option. Yes, Clichy has pace and is a more far competent left-back but we rarely have that problem. Against a pacy right-winger, or stronger opposition where we expect to be under a barrage, play Clichy, but when you want to break down parked buses we normally play against, the evidence shows that Kolarov is a far more effective option. Our problem last season wasn't our defence conceding too many, it was not scoring enough to turn draws into wins. Kolarov is somewhat of an answer.

If people are saying, yes, we need a world-class attacking left-back to replace Clichy as well as Kolarov, yes, that's perfectly fine. Can we improve on both? Yes, absolutely we can, although such players who can attack and defend competently and have the pace to do both roles effectively are rare, and therefore in high demand. If people are saying we just need defenders to defend, ok, I'd say you're wrong and at our level we do need extra support from the left and right-backs up front, but again it's understandable as an argument. However, people saying Kolarov gives us nothing whilst praising Clichy are deluded beyond belief. The facts are there if you care to check.

12 goals in 93 games is good for a full back. Can anyone name another City full back, past or present who has played more than 10 games and has a better goals to games ratio?

It's the defensive side of his game that lets him down. After three years you would have expected some improvement but there hasn't really been any.

I don't care much for stats because my eyes tell me all I need to know.

When he's on the pitch we look vulnerable and susceptible and lack a fluidity in our play.He is very much a weak spot that the opposition rightly target as routinely he will make mistakes, commit fouls or find himself marking fresh air while being positionally clueless.

He's awkward, lacks agility and mobility and basically just doesn't look like a footballer.
