Because often their nationality is an indicator of whether they can speak English. Not so important if we didn't have an english-speaking manager eg Wenger.
I would HATE us to turn into another Arsenal, with no English players in the team except Walcott.

Seen as it appears to be in the public domain now, a little update for you is that we are looking at the BMI for Kolo Toure, this means Background Medical Information and as mentioned in the Adebayor saga, we normaly get this before a medical can take place. This does not mean a deal has been done, merely means we can give a go ahead if we believe player is worth what is being asked for.
