What about Distin as a stop-gap arrangement. He had a good understanding with Dunne when they played todgether. Or is he past it?

This seems a little unlikely. He is no better as a player than he was when with us - quite possibly worse. The days of him and Dunne in their prime are past .

Many fans would not forgive him putting his lips to the Portsmouth badge.

Oh, and just to be on the safe side, from some of your previous posts - were you joking ?

Not joking, no. You're probably right about Distin.
 
Villa are rumoured to have bid for Distin. wouldn't want him back. His game is based on athleticism, and he's age means that is under threat.

Makes too many mistakes, and can't pass the ball well enough
 
Don't understand why we'd move for Upson next. That sounds like we've given up on Lescott possibly, as Upson is left footed and usually plays left side of defence.

I appreciate the reasons for getting prem ready players but suspect we'd be able to get better defenders from abroad than Upson. Even Keegan found Daniel Van Buyten!
