He's not in Arsenal's first team, Arsenal are the club that we want to knock out of the top 4, how is taking their 4th choice CB going to make us top 4 material?

One signed, one to go. Toure is here, now it's time for Upson. Then we can officially say we've spent almost 30m on 2 shit defenders that haven't even improved our side. Kompany and Onuoha > Upson and Toure.

Bit optimistic to say we've got a top 4 defender, if he can recapture his form of a couple of seasons ago then that may be the case.

Hopefully the malaria isn't an issue, and he's lost a few of the extra pounds off his arse that have appeared in the past few years.

Only then will this be a good price, and only then will we have a top 4 defender.

I'm an Arsenal fan. I have no idea what planet you're on, but Toure is definitely in the first team. He may not be an automatic starter in every game anymore, but he's not a 'reserves' centre-back.

Also, despite all the wild rumors - Toure *captained* the side in the friendly last night. So he certainly hasn't 'arrived', and it'd be pretty strange behaviour for him to even be featuring if we're still so intent on selling him.

Whoever thinks we are too good for Toure have serious issues.

He is a fantastic player and would be a great signing.

I don't know where you get this 4th choice CB from. Him and Gallas if fit, play.
 
AntMCFC, what planet are you on???? Do you know anything about football?? Toure is a quality defender who's form dipped during his spat with Gallas. Class is permanent, he would be a great signing for us.
 
I don't get how people could honestly think Toure is not better than any of our defenders. He had one bad season last season... and it wasn't bad as in Richard Dunne bad... it just wasn't as good as previous seasons... yet he is not good enough to walk into City's defense?

Give me a break, he'd take Dunne's spot in the blink of an eye in my opinion. Would be an awesome partner for Onouha.

And if we get Lescott as well, even better.

Good post - a bit of common sense (for a change). Well said. Hughes knows we need 4 top notch CB's Ned is one - the other three need to be signed. I think Kompany will be used as back up to De Jong as a DM. Toure and Lescott would be good. Not sure about Upson a bit of a sick note. I'd be tempted to try for Alves as the 4th option he can be afforded some time to settle in if we have Ned, Toure and Lescott. Longer term Alves could be the best CB in the league.

It frustrates me the number of people who don't think Kompany is one of our Top Centre Backs, he is easily the best at the club right now. He is a fantastic no nonsence defender. Would do great wth a composed player like Toure or Lescott. We only need to sign two centre backs and one wouldn't be the end of the world with Kompany, Onouha, Toure. Lescott would help though.

This, Kompany is an outstanding defender, he's far better there than in cdm. Zabaleta is perfect cover for de-jong, he played brilliant there back end of last season, its RB we need cover for not cdm.
