I didn't highlight him as a bad buy. I pointed to the fact they've got a bench (which Son is on) that costs well over £100m when someone said how brilliant they were for having a starting XI that only cost £100m.
Apologies, I misunderstood. Probably because he was in a list where the other players were fairly poor.

I have no idea what Pochettino earns but I see no rationale as to why Spurs wouldn't pay the going rate for a top coach should they need to replace him.

Because they don't pay anyone the going rate? They pay their players half what they get elsewhere, and their managers are the same. Same reason they failed to get anyone decent before Pochettino.

Spurs look solid to me. I don't think managerial change is imminent, but if it was they'd be able to appoint a really top coach.

Spuds are in the classic win / lose situation they have done well to get where they are but they don't pay top whack in wages so they are not going to sign any 'BIG' players and all the players they have are going to want big pay rises as soon as they sign average players on the same rate as the so called top players I think they are very close to falling apart.

Like who? They pay Pochettino less than Everton pay Koeman. They won't pay for a top coach, their only chance of replacing Pochettino is if a smaller club like Southampton manage to find another gem and Spurs can bully their way in.

As for solid, lets see how long it takes for all their players to start leaving when they decide that coming close to trophies for half the wages they could be earning isn't that great. Walker is leaving us and his £60,000 a week wage will defintiely have something to do with it. Alderweireld is demanding 2x his wages and running his contract down.

Just out of curiosity how do you know what salarys managers are on. Also players?

The issue for us is whether Walker is coming to City or not. Levy's reputation and ability are of peripheral significance. Much of what has been done at Spurs is unquestionably impressive but Levy is not some poker player who sits there always with a royal flush in his hand and bankrupts and humiliates his opponent. In this case he has a strong hand but so do City.

City want Walker. At the moment we don't have a right back at all. Walker has four years left on his contract. Levy is fully aware of all this. What City may know is that Alves is on his way to City, that Walker wants to come, that City will pay him far more than Spurs and that Spurs are financing their new stadium through loans, which have to be repaid. The other thing that might help City is that if Spurs don't sell him to us this window they won't get a second chance and Walker's transfer value may be cut in half - for a player who seems to get on badly with the coach, may not get off the bench too often and wants out.

It seems that everything points to a deal to satisfy bothe parties, not a Levy diktat.

Who are the current young full back options we have that could go for the pre-season minus the ones going out on loans and the ones yet to come in?

Agreed Levy has a strong hand as do we...good chess match going on. If obviously like him in before the US tour but not at the expense of giving Levy ridiculous amounts!

I presume Demeaco Duhaney and Ed Francis will be in with a shout of going on tour the way things stand.

pep said yesterday that manchester city have signed a youth fullback from barca Eric Garcia age 16 so maybe he knows what is happening and getting somebody to work on over the next couple of years will mean the to big names signing that he has targeted are in place and now working on the youth side of things
