I really think when we've negotiated with player & club and are ready to pull the trigger we should with all transfers put a deadline in it along with a price and if not done by the deadline walk away.

We'd only have to do it once and keep our nerve even if the other club offer the player cheaper to us out of desperation later we should decline.

Word would get out we're not going to be fucked about and stuff would move much much quicker.

When someone who has an asset you want, you can play hardball as much as you like, the selling club hold the aces. Your way could result in second tier signings imo.

Maybe, maybe not but it'd stop all the pissing about for a few million and if we did this just once and made it public it'd stop the selling clubs taking the micky.

Weren't you bothered about the news before last Wednesday? :)

I've been discovering new sources of information daily. This place isn't the only. Plus I had been reading the forum for quite a bit before I went onto make an account.

The issue is that Pep has been promised that he can have any player he wants. Other clubs know that. Levy knows that. Walker will play in the blue of City but he will cost more than any other defender. What is more important than the price is that Pep has everything he asked for.

The most sensible tactic is to wait to the last day of the window before bidding otherwise Levy will keep raising the price. (Look at Liverpool with Keita - they started bidding at £30m and now they are at £70m FFS!)

There was never anything with Keita and Liverpool, they weren't going to sell at any price this year, they made that clear.

This is not he season to be messing around! We need to show Pep we can deliver players.
If this is the season that we go for it big style, we should do the Sanchez, Mendy deals then start blowing other teams out he water again!
We could risk losing Pep if we don't.

think Kyle Walker is a bit overrated and overpriced tbh.

We should have a snoop to see who Spurs are targeting as Walker's replacement and buy him instead... :)

Wouldn't mind if we were telling Spurs to fuck off if they want 50m for Walker and just go with Alves, Maffeo and of course Fernandinho as our RB choices for next year, especially as Maffeo wouldn't just be a HG but also club-trained.

I know Maffeo will go to Girona and gain some much needed La Liga experience and we will sign Walker for like 50+10m the last day of August and I will support him from then on of course, so just a thought... :)

Relying on a 34 year old full back in a postion that will require so much from Pep sounds like a disaster.

Well that's why I listed two other commonly known alternatives to him too. :) But he seemed to be in a good shape last year, the fact that he broke his leg can happen to anyone. I'd hope he can easily start ~30 games next season for us, and the other hopefully 30 can be shared amongst others, not to mention that who knows whether we won't play with 3 CBs a bit more.

I completely disagree. Full backs are going to be huge in the way Pep gets this system to work he's not going to take chances and rightly so. A aging full back who is not capable of playing a role in all major trophies backed up by make shift right back Fern and unproven Maffeo. It simply wouldn't be good enough and could result in being costly during the season.
