Fantastic player, sad to see him leave. Can’t really say I am surprised. Players will want to move on now having won the treble. His role also seemed to diminish this season until the run in. Looking more and more like a rebuild this summer. Might be as many as 4/5 out.

Laporte
Walker
Bernie
Mahrez
Gundo??

The team lacked hunger before the charges turned the season on its head. We can’t stand still while teams around us get stronger. I would prefer Walker stayed but if he wants to go then he will go with all our appreciation.

Nervous but exciting times ahead. As long as Pep stays we will be more than fine. New faces is maybe what he also needs. Transfers can be so hit and miss tho.

If City doesn't want to give him new deal, also Pep didn't play him is some important games and if we sign Gvardiol his playing time would be even less, I can see why would he want to move.

Thinking back to his interview on bt sport straight after the champions league final, it could have been a goodbye, when he thanked everyone from the club for what they had done for him and all that jazz.
Tbh he's been immense for us, and we wouldn't be where we are now without some of his performances against the best on the world, but!! Time moves on, he wasn't first choice sometimes last season.
It could all be bullshit but if he goes then we will get someone decent in, it's just strange all the rumours at the minute, we will be lucky to get a five a side team available at this rate

Ey up. A bratwurst and a mug of tetley please, chef.

Gutted. But he’s served us to perfection.

He can be as pissed off as he wants but he didn't deserve to start that game over Akanji or Ake. They were consistently excellent all season.

When there's a Vinicius or Rashford to play against, he's important. But Pep's selection against Inter was the right one.

Agreed. But he won't see it like that.

Surprising but if he wants the move so be it, he’s done his time here and a great signing for us.
More I think about it the more it makes sense. Pep clearly seems to be going the way of a more stable defender at right, with perhaps positional sense and more control, ie Akanji. Essentially 4 CB’s, or 3 and one with Rodri (Stones)
100%. This transfer would just re-affirm that. Gvardiol is a must then plus I like the idea of a de Jong or a rice who have played centre half and can step in next to Rodri in midfield as well. Gives u the option of a centre half going in or a rb. We’ve done both this year

Our 3 at the back formation works so well because of walkers pace. Take him out and it's nowhere near as solid looking and leaves us open on counters. Hes crucial when we play against world class wingers that can exploit the space our formation leaves. Mad to allow him to leave from a city viewpoint.

If he's the one pushing for it then there is probably not much we can do. Personally, if players this summer decide they want something new after the treble win they can go, it displays a lack of commitment to the club in my eyes though and will lessen his legacy here. I want players who want to go and do it again with city.

He is replacing Pavard who want to leave Bayern

I can see this happening. We have quite a few 30 plus players in the squad and we could probably use a little refeshing and investment in new blood.

However if Walker goes, along with Gundo, Bernie, Laporte and Mahrez I wonder if the Club thinks losing five senior players at once is a bit too much refreshing.

Don’t need a right back now pep loves four centre backs and looks like we buying one of them! If we can get 20m for Walker I’d let him go

He didn't play for a significant portion bor the season when we started the back 3 movement. He is a specialist. An athletic back who can shut down speedy Wingers.

It's a fantastic quality to have in your toolbox. But it's not the end of the world.
