Yeah Txiki needs to wake up.Feels like the club are sleepwalking into a problem here. Walker is vital to how we play and he's also remarkably reliable.
The squad is already far too thin.
The squad refresh is something we all agree on right? So how exactly do you refresh without moving on the aged players. Walker’s use is very minimal in our new system. If people think we should keep for 2-3 big games against likes of Vinicius or another speedster it is very misinformed. It became clear last season he’s not really part of our plans moving forward. As tough as it is, Walker has given his all for us. Walker 33, Mahrez 33, getting deals for both is good and at the right time. The only one not justified is Gundo and I do feel we messed up on that one, however even he was due replacing next summer if not this one. So all in all, we are getting a refresh. We just have to be patient. Pep won’t leave us in a bad state.

Many players on what will be their final contractual deals and have won everything there is to win at City. Fair enough... We'll have to move them on this or next season regardless...We are gonna have only bloody 15 first team players the way this window is going. Wtf is going on and why does so many want to quit City?!

Pep vocally spoke out on him not fitting the system/inverted role. He can definitely still be a valuable asset in the back 3 but signing Gvardiol solves that too. Agreed but it looks like we had no choice on this.Nah letting walker go is bad decision I like him the defensive contribution he makes into the team .
I don't think Pep values him as highly as the fans and perhaps will look to use Akanji and Lewis at rb if Walker leaves.To be fair he doesn’t make many mistakes at all. When you say capable, he’s arguably the best right back in Europe

What make me angry is the board is dealing with clubs that don't sell to us their players.Agreed but it looks like we had no choice on this.

Got to think how this works. Gundo and Kyle were amongst the top performers at the end of the season. Both in as fine form as I can remember. That often happens with players putting themselves in the shop window. Older players seek to impress and eliminate any thought of their decline. In reality, they may be making withdrawls against their aging body.
That's all I can say, because I like, value and respect both players tremedously, and there is no doubt in my mind this is a blow to the squad.

Lewis just isn’t defensively reliable for big games, his strength is elsewhere. Pep now likes his defenders who defend. The numbers just aren’t there if Laporte and Walker go. The likes of Gundogan, Walker, Bernardo and Laporte have been at City for a long time and have won everything they can possibly win in England. It's understandable that they may want a new challenge.Wtf is going on and why does so many want to quit City?!

As much as I love Walker and think he has been fantastic over the years, I do think this might be the right time to move him on. His ability to shut down world class players like Mbappe or Vinicious Jr will be missed and just on qualities alone he could have played a part next season as well. But he is a 33 year old that relies a lot on his pace that lost his place as a regular starter the second half of the season and became more of a squad player. He seemed to be annoyed by this and seemingly wants a more important role so perhaps its best for both parties if he gets a new challenge and we replace him with a long term option. Will be interesting to see who the club will replace him with, if its someone with similar strengths or a different kind of player. I would preferably want to see us target someone that at least somewhat replaces his pace, even if finding an RB as fast as Walker will more or less be an impossible task.
