Lack of excitement for the World Cup?

Italy90 was the last time I gave a shit.

We fluked that run to the semis. Awful against Ireland, awful against the Netherlands, awful against Egypt, awful against Belgium till a late, late winner, utterly outplayed by Cameroon till they decided to hack Lineker twice, and then one good game against Germany. Which we lost.

I guessed the winner, correct score and first goal for the final of that, unfortunately didn't have any money on it.

First one took real notice of was 78 where Archie Gemmle scored a great goal against the Dutch.

Always buzzing for International tournaments, disagree with what seems to be the consensus on this forum that blues don't give a fuck about England, I love watching the England games with mates who would normally be on opposing sides. Every England game is going to be huge in this one as well. I also look forward to watching all the City players nowadays, interested to see how Bosnia, Belgium, Argentina and Spain get on, I think Aguero, Zabba and perhaps MDM might become World Cup winners in a little over a months time.

Saying all that the 2010 one left a sour taste in my mouth, 80% of the teams were using the 4-2-3-1 formation and just cancelling each other out. It happened time after time and made for what I consider to be the worst World Cup.

How did we fluke it?
We were unbeaten in the tournamount apart from the third place play off
And I wouldn't say Cameroon totally outplayed us although I do remember Shilton having a good game.

Yep, as thread implies totally uninterested, would much prefer our players were getting some rest and of course there is the added threat of injuries

A world cup summer is always great. There's some decent, close groups which makes it more interesting and competitive. I'm looking forward to watching Chile, Colombia, Belgium, and Japan in action, I think Colombia will be one to watch. Even without Falcao, they've got a very strong attack.

As for winners, I'm going for Brazil, they look pretty solid in defensive and midfield. A lot have talking about their strikers, but defence and midfield is what normally wins you these tournaments, especially in tight matches. Look at Spain last time. Only 1 goal scored in each knockout match, but 4 clean sheets. The 2 best attacking teams (Uruguay and Germany) had to contest the 3rd place playoff. France won the World Cup with Stephane Guivarch as their striker.
