Because I am not a WUM - 99% of football fans that aren't city fans would take Diarra over De Jong.

I honestly do not understand how people can Rate De Jong over Diarra - could someone please explain coherently why this is the case. (with actual points not just shit)

Do you have no doubts about what you are saying due to the fact that basically everyone rates him very highly...players, pundits and fans. It's you, Dax and maybe one or two others that don't. Now surely you aren't arrogant enough to think that you are more knowledgeable on football than 99% of other city fans..? Just, for one second, have a think that you could be wrong, and that not every fan is viewing him through blue tinted specs. Virtually every fan of another team who has watched him play has said he was our best player- it is by no means just City fans who rate him.

I do rate him - as a good player (but not as the next makalele).

I have given reasons why he is overated - He cares for the club and he is a hardman which make him popular and rightly so.

Talking of 'actual' and not 'shit', can we see the stats behind your statement, pls?

Just post up the evidence.

Ta, mucker.

I am currently seacrhing for distance covered and tackle and interception statistics on Spanish websites, once I find them I will compare them to De Jong's

So... 99% was just a totally stupid and wild speculation, then...? That's all I need to know, ta.

And on that basis, I'm out.

Why are you bothering? Their jobs and importance to their respective teams are different. De Jong is a big loss to us when he is missing. Diarra's absence is softened by guys like Khedira, Alonse and more recently Pepe.

If it was a 50/50 split on here regarding peoples thoughts on him, you could be in the right....even 60/40 split, but when basically everyone disagrees with you I think you may have to concede that you may be wrong...??

And, I hate to do this, as I am sure you are a city fan....but how many games do you go to, you and Dax..?? I bet you are Fifa and FM players...!
Never played FIfa or FM before. I coach football and watch a lot of football. My opinion is based on having seen both in at least 20 games, of which I have seen both great performances and poor performances for each. Lass is a more talented player.

Ok, but why does he get so many Sky MOTM's...? I accpet these are not everything, but I am just explaining that not only city fans 'overate him'? Do they give him that because he is a hardman..? Also, what about Wolves away, Lpool away and other games where we have lost without him in the team, and I am sure they are no coincidence..?

Look how we play without ndj he is our heart , this is a wind up for sure, and come
Next season when he bosses the game at the nou camp I will be waiting for
Your posts he is the real deal In his position

Did you not just watch that game, did you not see how well Diarra played? I watch both players every single week and Diarra outclasses De Jong.

I though this game would have been an illustration to everyone of what a top class DM could/should be. Obviously I was mistaken.

A salient point :)

well then, in what way is he better than De Jong?
Quick checklist:

Quicker - Diarra
Stronger - De Jong
Commited - Equal
Ground Covered - Diarra
Athleticism - Diarra
Ability on the ball - Diarra
Awareness - Diarra
Tackle - De Jong
Lungs - Diarra
Range - Passing and Movement - Diarra

Granted my opinion, but I think it is mostly right.

I must have missed the part where we were unbeaten with him in the team. I don't remeber him getting many sky MOTMs at all.

Different players. Diarra iss not a specialist defensive midfielder. He is much more complete a player than that.

De Jong is a defensive midfielder as a rule. He patrols a small area of the pitch and does his job wonderfully well. If De Jong had someone like Diarra next to him instead of the one-paced Barry then our midfield would be an awful lot better off. Diarra and De Jong would compliment each other perfectly IMO.

I don't give a toss who thinks De Jong is or isn't world class, better than this guy or that guy. What's important is that he is vital to our team and he is vital with his job in giving guys like Silva and Johnson in front of him the space to drift into dangerous areas.

The Diarra comparison is an interesting one because imagine a partnership between him and De Jong in front of our back four? I honestly see it being more profitable for us than when Barry is there. because his lack of legs can be badly shown up in certain games. I know it's unlikely to happen but I'd prefer us to be linked with him rather than someone like Pirlo.
Now here is a valid position I have no problems with. Even if you thinj De Jong is better. It is those who turn a mild dixcussion about opinions into a personal hissyfit that have me on my floor laughing. Internet warriors my missus likes to call them.
