Last Manchester-born player to score for us?

Far as I know , Phil Forden's family are from Bridge Hall / Adswood area of Stockport , and he grew up around Edgeley . I did see a video clip he did, talking about his junior school, and he said it was Bridge Hall .
Ah, right. Assumed because he played for Reddish Vulcans he was from that area, but of course that doesn't need to be the case.

Bridge Hall boy eh? He won't be too bothered in the cup at the New Den!

Yeah but droyslden ain't Manchester either, it's tameside.

So what is Manchester? A roundabout The Piccadilly Rats play on next to Market Street tram stop? Smallest big city ever.

I had colleagues from Wigan or Bolton say they’re from their respective towns. People from Droylsden said Manchester.

Manchester is fairly small. Leeds and Sheffield are bigger.

Leeds city is bigger than Manchester population wise but it's metropolitan area is less than half that of greater Manchester. Sheffield population is about the same as Manchesters.

It's pretty black and white. There's a map saying where the boundaries of Manchester are. City are the only league team within those boundaries and if I'm not mistaken, they have always been the only league team within them boundaries (maybe bar 10 years or so). It doesn't matter whether you feel you're a Manc but live in the beating heart of Trafford or you feel German but live in rural Sudetenland, you're from whatever boundary you reside in. This isn't 1938, Adolf.
