Led Zeppelin

There is, I think, a considerable difference between Weinstein and the goings-on of rock musicians (and I'm not defending grown men fucking thirteen and fourteen-year-olds, by the way. Although my first serious girlfriend was under age. I myself was only sixteen. And I was a perfect gentleman. For about a year or so. Well, not quite perfect. Anyway, enough of that…).
Weinstein made it a condition of their being able to work in the industry — implicitly or not — to a whole raft of actresses. As Louis B.Mayer did before him, incidentally. Nobody in Zep was saying, oh yeah, you can join the band if you do this. Or rather, we'll make sure you don't work in any other band if you don't do this.
Worked briefly with a guy who was a roadie for Hawkwind. He said this kind of thing went on all the time. And when you're half pissed or well drugged up, I don't think, somehow, that you ask the girl for id proving her age.
Bonzo seems to be the classic example of a man who was a perfectly nice guy under normal circumstances, who was transformed into something like a monster under the influence of alcohol. As for that, I've seen that happen in the very row I sit in at the Etihad! More than once.
As for it being the Daily fucking Mail running with this story, that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Is there a more hypocritical, prurient newspaper in the business?

You said that but your whole post seems to then go on to defend him.:)

Typical. I change my username to one of my favourite songs and then Jimmy Page nonce allegations spark back up again.

Just glad I never went ahead and got the tattoo of him, I always wanted...

America has a statute of limitation I doubt anything will happen
Although like Dylan I guess he could face a civil suit if someone wanted to go that route

Does look a bit like that, doesn't it?
I just think that there's a whole machinery of prurient exploitation that goes into action (which goes beyond the original one) when these things are made public. If it's the girl involved pointing the finger, fair enough. Let her or her legal representative take Page or Plant to court if she wants redress.
Very often, though, it's a whole load of other people immediately jumping up on to their high horse. And I want to know, who exactly are those people, and where are they coming from? Are they so pure? Who hasn't done things in their life that they're not particularly proud of?
Who, exactly, is pointing the finger? That's all I'm asking clarification about.
Anyway, not going to stop listening to Physical Graffiti with an ever-renewed sense of wonder, nearly fifty years after I first put it on the turntable! And Bonzo may have been an irresponsible c**t when he was drunk, but those drum rolls towards the end of “When The Levee Breaks” still give me goosepimples.

Not Zep, but...

I've just come in from a concert at Warrington's Parr Hall.

Saving Grace, and the name of one of their singers is.... Robert Plant. They were SUPERB. Not a second of Zep or Plant solo output. Just reworkings of 60/70/80 year old folk/blues/Americana. I have no interest in those genres, but I went with an open mind. BRILLIANT. Plant oozes stage presence and still holds a tune brilliantly. "His" band were fantastic, too. A GREAT night.

If they're local to you, go and see them. You won't be disappointed
December 9 – Dorking, England
December 10 – Ipswich, England
December 13 – Warrington, England
December 14 – Chesterfield, England
December 16 – Birmingham, England
December 17 – Monmouth, Wales
December 20 – Cheltenham, England
December 21 – Aberystwyth, Wales

Ah, this sounds great. The Pink Floyd one at the V&A was just superb so if it's anywhere near as good, I'd love to see it. Although Floyd were of course much bigger than Zep on props, visuals and the art side of things.

See, this is what I love about Percy. He's just completely immersed in music for the pleasure of it. He's not about selling loads of records (at least these days, anyway) but doing what he wants to do artistically and I don't think he'll ever stop as long as he has a voice. He always seems to have several projects on the go and they're generally pretty low-key. I've only ever seen him live once (Page & Plant in the Manchester Arena around the time the 'Unledded' album came out) but would happily go and see him performing these smaller projects.

Tbf it isn't really finger pointing yet, but a chapter in a book on them which this paper has picked out and seems to be a true account of noncery from Page and management
Spitz has painstakenly researched and interviewed people involved and recollections of the event(s) are too many and too consistent as seems to be the case, Bob Spitz seems to have researched it properly for his book, and honestly bar the mails article I haven't seen either trend or it become a news story so it seems not many are pointing any fingers (yet).

Would more likely be like when it was revealed John Peel had 14 yr old girl groupies in his hotel rooms when in the US, unless it becomes a social media storm no one will even pay attention.

Thing is if percieved by most fans as musical gods/legends then they will get a pass from the devoted.

Page, Michael jackson, steve tyler, wyman, etc all had rumours about them but is there a gary glitter revulsion towards them? Admittedly that **** gpitter has been caught in the act several times though.

Yeah I went to the V&A Floyd thing it'd be great if they put all Jimmy's guitars and stage clothes in an exhibition . I think the V&A had one of his suits a few years ago. I saw some of the art he owns at the Tate Britain a couple of years ago.
