Haha, I wondered if anyone would pick that up. :-) we better fuck contest that red card. Surprised that Jelavic's studs didn't leave blood stains in the back of Kompany's calf.

I think the quality of refereeing in our last two games has worried us all. I would hope that the refereeing of the away match in Barcelona - according to UEFA the highest profile CL match of the season with the single exception of the final - will have alarmed everyone everywhere. I'm not accusing the French ref of being biased or corrupt, but he was certainly incompetent to a degree which forces us to ask why on earth he was ever selected for a game where his inability would inevitably be highlighted in front of a huge TV audience.

We've had "issues" with Lee Mason for some time but on Saturday he continued a trend begun in Barcelona - a clear foul on a City player culminating in City being reduced to ten men. On Wednesday I was forced to ask what decisions the ref actually got right, and Mason forces me to ask the same question of his performance. He made a complete mess of the Kompany "incident", he then made, if anything, an even bigger "mistake" in deciding that Elmohamady's assault on Silva - outrageously high, all studs planted stiff legged on David's shin, with not even the vaguest intention of playing the ball - was worth only a yellow. Is this the latest UEFA directive? Crippling an opponent for life is less serious than depriving one of a goal scoring opportunity! Then a Hull player goes down under a non-existent challenge from the 'keeper to try and win a penalty. No yellow card for him, but Joe Hart's anger is on the same level as Elmohamady's offence. Yellow for both!

I can't add anything to that, and totally agree with you.

Make that three games. Anthony Taylor was awful in the Wigan game too.

I don't get it. Why on earth can Anthony Taylor from Wythenshawe ref a Manchester team. He has to have some bias one way or the other. Clearly not in our favour. It's nonsense to suggest he has a preference for a non league team and no leaning towards red or blue. FFS

because he`s one of 3,000 people world wide thats supports Altrincham and although his family are united season ticket holder he himself isnt.

The ref who took our home 1st leg against Barca, reffed another European tie I was watching recently and was excellent.. Ithink it might have been SPurs v Napoli.

He operated different standards in that game. He was excellent in that game. Did he just have a bad night at the Etihad, because he was obviously a very good ref. It wasn't incompetence

Re: "Lee Mason. Oh Dear"

For me it is not the big decisions that matter as much as the ongoing decisions/ none decisions. Dzeko could not challenge for the ball without mason blowing up, then VK gets studs raked down his calf and a push and he let's it go. We were pulled up for every 50/50 thought the game. They got away with loads. This has started to happen a lot to us. Means we cannot play our pressing game nor can we get any momentum in our passing game. Job done. Refs can play fair on the big decisions ( the penalty) so as not to draw too much attention. Note, he did not book the hull player for diving, or send off a hull player after the Silva tackle.
