If he's that loyal, we wouldn't be bidding for him. The club isn't going to go through painful negotiations with Juventus only to get rejected by the player.
Did we not also go the tried and tested route with Lescott, Kolo and Otamendi? - There's another £60m there.
I'm not sure it's an age thing. That kid we signed from Hamburg in 08 was decent.
Lescott and Kolo were nothing more than proven Prem players when we bought them, nobody would have ever said that they were world class. Even so you could argue that "they did a job". I think with Otamendi there is a good defender in there somewhere and hopefully under Pep he will look the player we thought we were buying.
I dont think its an age thing either, the problem for me is that centre back is a specialised position where experience plays a big part. Is Mangala the complete dud he looks? I dont think he is but we dont have time to stand by him and wait until he reaches 28 to see the best of him.
We know what Bonucci offers, yes hes 29 but he is world class and has been for a number of years. People seem to have forgotten the absolute car crash that was our central defence last season. If he is a available we would be mad to pass up the opportunity
