Whilst agreeing it was stupid and petulant (you have to admire the sneer) I don't see how it could be a straight red wasn't reckless, violent, preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity or likely to injure so under what rule could he have been dismissed?
It was literally the very definition of those things.

I can understand blue tinted specs but they shouldn't blind a person.

It was not reckless. He knew exactly what he was doing. Reckless means he had no control over it. Oh he certainly did.

Stupid? Probably. Deliberate? 100%. Nasty? Yep.

But it wasn't reckless and it wasn't a red card offence.

It was most certainly reckless. As you say it was deliberate, he could very easily have injured Lowton with a deliberate 'hack' which is reckless.

Like Mane's on Ederson, he knew what he was doing but it was still certainly reckless.

It's one thing to think "Good on him for dishing it out" which I understand but just don't personally agree with. Then another to say "wasn't a red" because even Stevie Wonder knows it was; very definition of violent conduct, premeditated to boot.

You may think people see it as "petulant" because it's Sané and not someone else, conversely I think people are turning a blind eye to it because it's Sané.

It isn't the very definition of violent conduct though.

"Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made."

Even if you did consider it 'excessive force' or 'brutality' he was well within the vicinity of the ball.

I'm convinced you're on the wind up now so shall leave any discussion with you be if that's alright, genuinely.
