Getting back to the topic ......... LESCOTT, if you do sign jolean (and its looking as tho you probably will) you have the best left sided defender in the country, i and most Evertonians would'nt swap him for any other defender in the league. Last season he was far better than Terry who is past his best and tends to pick up a lot of injuries. Dont forget Lescott also pushed himself into the England squad as a full back, and he is a top class one.
So it is understandable that Moyes will hold out for as much as he can get because he will be irreplaceable.

Bill.

And you sir are welcome to visit Toffeetalk, please excuse me if i ruffled any feathers but after reading some of the rubbish posts on here, slagging off the Players, the Manager, and the Team, I felt obliged to defend them as you would defend yours.

Bill.
TBH honest i'm glad they're slagging off your team/playesr/manager,it makes a nice change from it being ours.
A question Bill,i remember how good your team was when Kendall was in charge & believe that but for the ban you would have won EURO trophys, but the question is was Andy Gray the missing link that completed your team & did the signing of Lineker to replace him fuck things up, or have i got it wrong.

You got it half right, Andy Gray was the missing link, Kendall took a huge gamble cos Gray was over the hill and had two dodgy knees, but the time he spent with us was probs the best he ever played, was only a matter of time before we had to replace him. Not sure about the Euro trophies but at least we would have had a go at it.
Lineker came along and tho he scored 40 goals for us in the one season we had him we won F*ck all. Came 2nd in the league and beaten in the Cup final, His head was turned by the Lure of big Money and a deep suntan so off he went abroad, says he always regretted it, but they all say that.

Bill.

That was a great side which I was sure was going to win the European Cup. It was a real shame that they didn't get the chance to do it through no fault of their own. Don't much care for the present one though I have to admit. Effective but I really don't like watching them.

Bill, who would you like to replace Jolene, Jolene, if he does go? Have there been any rumours abound on Toffeetalk, etc? I think that, but for the current circumstances, you've got a fine pair of centrebacks in Jagielka/Yobo, and in fairness you wouldn't be in very bad shape.

Moyes sees Rodwell as a centre back of the future but too inexperienced at the mo, yeah Jags and Yobo are ok but jags may not be back in time so if Jolean goes, we need back-up.

My preference would be a foreigner because the English players are so overpriced, if we do get somebody from home it would have to be someone like Upson or Hangeland as squad players. We have no money. lol.

Bill.

If we can't have Lescott/Lucio then its Hangeland or Wheater for me. Anyone else is a gamble/too old/overpriced. Suggest Bill, you follow the same policy if JL comes to us, the Prem is a very unforgiving playground and experience of it is invaluable.

In my opinion.
Cheers

Good post, except... Wheater?!!

You're quite right about the necessity of PL experience though, and I think that Hughes always has this in mind.

Hangelaand's a fucking heading machine I think, and I'd rather hold on to Dunne. I would powerwank 'til it dropped off if we got Lucio though, wonderful player.

It was a great side,Southall,Reid who had a big point to prove & did,Sheedy who had a great left foot,Radcliffe a cracking CH & upfront gray, sharp & heath who was a supersub.

Absolute bollocks ,Jagielka is better, and Lescott's distribution is awfull......he was dropped was he not for a time, and also

had to make do with playing left back...........to say he's the best in the league is a joke.......if Everton get over 15 million

they have robbed the buyer.

Mark Hughes will know his value to City, dont be surprised if the offer is at least £20m.
Jags is great but i said Left sided defender.
NO he wasnt, and he has never been dropped, Baines wasnt good enough as a defender thats why Jolean was moved across he hasnt missed a game in two seasons for us. He can defend he can attack and he has scored 19 goals in 2 seasons for us, thats better than our strikers, and far better than John Terry who has only played about 20 games for the last 2 seasons, if you go for Terry at 40 mill ITS you who will have been robbed. Lescott is the real deal at £20m.

From what I've seen Lescott has been very good for you for 2-3 years Jags has had a good season, stop getting on your high horse. And thats why lescott is in the England squad and Jags isnt.
