One word lads ----- SHUSH :o)

A few more now I have your attention lol .

We apparantly owe Wolves a sell on fee .
Joleon is contracted untill 2012 , which means that we will probably be liable for a loyalty bonus payment unless he puts a transfer request in .
Both of these matters must be considered in a final price , and combined , they are a lot of money .

Our valuation of Lescott is X - amount .
We won't sell at our valuation , as that is not good business . If your car is worth £5 grand , and someone offers you £5 grand out of the blue , why would you sell ? You then have to get a reliable car all over again , and the next car might not be proven . So what do you do ? You seek compensation , and ask for £6 grand etc etc .

We can ask for more than our valuation , because we DON'T want to sell him .

Jags is injured , and will miss the start of the season .
The African Nations begins in January , so we will also lose Yobo .
We currently have no cover for our defensive positions , unless we move our existing players such as Rodwell and Neville around , or bring in a young player .

Without even selling Lescott , we already need to establish at least 2 defensive players to provide cover .

Because of this , I think Moyes will stand firm , and keep hold of Lescott , unless the price becomes enormous .

Lescott can ask for a transfer all he wants , but if Moyes doesn't want him to go , he won't go .

Lescott won't risk a world cup place by throwing a hissy fit , incase Moyes throws him in the reserves , so face it ; Moyes holds the cards here ; NOT Lescott .

So far , we haven't signed anyone , other than a few kids .
We won't sell when we haven't got replacements , as their prices will become difficult to keep down , and if we do manage to bring in players , then we certainly won't want to lose Lescott .

This is why I feel the price would need to be in excess of £25 mill .
City might well pay off Lescotts loyalty bonus , or Lescott might waiver it , but we still need to pay Wolves .

I feel your chances of getting him are very slim in this window , unless City are prepared to pay an enormous fee .

[quoteToffeeandy]I in no way am using the article to back up my argument as have no idea if its true. I'm pointing out that if your to use a source then use all of it, not just the bits that suit your own agenda.

Another player turns down Everton

The plain facts are in football nowadays the players have all the power. If a player asks for a transfer it's pointless holding onto them, you just end up with an unhappy player and it can have a negative effect on the team as a whole.
Who was the last player to put in a transfer request and stay at his club? We'll probably pay a little over the odds but if we want any Everton player and they want a move we'll get them simple as.

I appreciate your input as an Everton fan and I really don't want to sound arrogant here but there is a danger I might.
OK so I'd be a tiny tiny but annoyed if we end up paying £30m for Lescott. But I'm not going to lose any sleep, because I know that Garry Cook and Sheikh Mansour is backing Mark Hughes 100% in terms of transfer targets. If MH wants Lescott we'll get him because he wants to join us.
It doesn't matter if £15m is rejected because we'll just bid again, and again and again and again... It's blatantly obvious that money is no issue for our owner, he could pay £250m for one player and it would probably equal something like 1.5h of interest! If we bid enough there comes a point when the board will take matters into their own hands and Moyes will just be told to shut up and accept it.
If MH wants him badly enough we will get Lescott, I just hope we can keep it below £25-30m for the sake of decency...

Oh darn, I just went ahead and turned into an arrogant prick sorry :(

What you call an enormous fee is small to us.

we will play 3 up top with a central striker in EA or RSC with tevez and robinho either side, we will play 3 in midfield this will allow barry and dejong to sit which will allow the full backs to get forward along with ireland and the front 3

when defending the 3 in midfield will become a 5 if required with robinho and tevez being asked to drop, the lone striker will then be asked to ensure that he retains the ball when it is delivered to him hence the requirement of him having a physical presence and also mobility

the back 4 will be that a 4

so the formation will be a 4-3-3 that can become a 4-5-1 in my opinion

but the squad will have enough options to allow for different formations and changes during games

imho i dont think there are many centerbacks that are worth more than 20 mill. id say that lescott is worth 16mill max

16M + CAT (City Added Tax) is roughly 20M.

Quality idea with the CAT. I think this is a term that could end up being used quite a lot on here.
