This is Everton football club , not Accrington Stanley we're talking about here .

A club who are very close to launching a realistic challenge on both the top 4 , and all cup competitions , and are proven as being up there on merit and not by fluke . I'm sure they would sell if City offered a monsterous amount , but that is unlikely to happen unless City get desperate . One thing that is very unlikely to happen is Everton accepting a ' good ' offer , as the whole point of a transfer market is to keep what is working and sell what isn't , and strengthen any weaknesses .
We have a few places that need strengthening , and our budget determines how many of those places , and how strong a replacement we can get . No way will we sell ' what is working ' unless we can find something else that works well AND strengthen another position or two in the deal .
Those that think City will get Lescott easily without Moyes putting up a huge resistance are more than simply optimistic . Should another club come in for him , especially one of the big European clubs , then City have a major headache , as with respect , he is unlikely to choose Sunny Manchester over sunny Spain or Italy .
Everton can offer European football , a realistic challenge , and a guaranteed starting place , and with the World Cup around the corner , he will not want to risk anything .

Forget so called ITK's . No way will any decisions be made unless Everton say so , and the only thing we know for sure is that so far , they have said NO .

Out of interest what transfers has this guy broken before the papers picked up on it?
None, as his sole claim to be an "ITK" is a connection to a specific member of Everton's first team. The only reason he has this information is because he specifically asked the question regarding Lescott's intentions, and received at answer which he passed on to ourselves. His trustworthyness is based upon length of membership, track record in NOT being a pisstaking bullshit artist and method of posting the information received (one post, no drama, no bragging, no attempts to milk any potential adulation etc).

Ok I see why you would believe him to be a trustworthy source. What exactly did he ask, and what did they player in question reply? Also are we atlking a senior player, a staff member, or a junior team player?

I can understand your stance for your football club and trumpeting why he shouldnt leave and how Moyes will fight tooth & nail to keep him.

But the simple facts are that if lescott wants to leave then we will get him for less than £20 million quid.

As for your realistic chance of breaking the top four then sorry DSOB i have to disagree-you need a takeover ala MCFC to get anywhere near-Moyes has done a fantastic job sustaining your clubs position but he has taken them as far as he can.

Lescott will leave to realise his ambitions and will leave with a heavy heart-they are the facts.

Here's a copy of the post he made on this issue:-

TB !, I dont know if it is me or not that Matty refers too but I have indeed spoken directly to an everton first team player who has conveyed that his understanding of the situation is that Lescott wants the move to City and would rather it all be amicable, however if not then he will force the issue. I would much rather not name the player as he really doesnt want to rock the boat and reiterated this when sharing what he knew (actually at the time of the first phone call he knew very little as the players were all over the place and not all in contact with each other, as he is best friend to a family member of mine he kindly followed up on my question and came back with the info stated). If this deal does not come off (it will) then I take responsibility for some peoples faith in this and will consider naming the player and the dates and source of the info. Clearly this will only be if the player has been less than honest in his info, which I still very much doubt. I will attempt to get some more info from him this week but am unlikely to be able to do anything before wednesday due to restrictions caused by my own family contact.

I've had private contact with the poster where he expanded upon the connection between the player and himself and provided me with the name of the player. Obviously I'm not going to divulge the name, all I'll say is that this is a first team player.

Just a couple of points:-

1 - The ITK of which I speak was passing on information related to Lescott's wishes/intentions. Obviously this is just what the player wants to happen and not what Everton want to happen. It is unusual however (although not unprecidented) for a player to be prevented from moving on if he has his heart set on it, especially when multi-million pound offers are in for him.

2 - I can understand the bravado but, seriously, Everton are not "very close to launching a realistic challenge on both the top 4 , and all cup competitions". It's just that simple. Without HUGE sums of cash you can't break the top 4, it's impossible, at least with regularity. You managed it once a few years back, but couldn't build upon that. I'm not having a dig at Everton, or Villa or Spurs for that matter, it's just a simple fact. City are the only club capable of breaking into the top 4 monopoly, and that's only becasue of our extremely wealthy owners.

Thanks for posting that. I still think its highly unlikely a 1st team player would divulge this information knowing it'll end up on the internet with the possibilty of his name being used to back up the claims... He'd be either very trusting of your contact, or very stupid. Moyes would rip him apart if he ever found out he'd been spilling the beans to a Man City forum poster!

Its an interesting post though none the less :)

Ah, the good old baggage handlers are back. I've missed them!!!

lmao!!!

and i have a friend who works for a hair replacement firm in manchester and told me JL was in getting a price for his bald scone :D

i love these "just got a text from a friend who works at the airport"

off the everton official site

The Everton squad have departed for America.

The Toffees left London's Heathrow airport on Monday afternoon, bound for Seattle.

David Moyes and his side will train in the American city before travelling to Edmonton, Canada to face Argentine giants River Plate.

The squad will then relocate to Salt Lake, in Utah, to begin preparations for the glamorous clash with the MLS All-Stars.

Moyes has almost his entire squad with him, with only injured trio Victor Anichebe, Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka not among the travelling party.

Joseph Yobo, Steven Pienaar and Jack Rodwell were reunited with their teammates on Merseyside before embarking on the journey, while Tim Howard will link up with the squad stateside.

All four of those players were afforded an extra summer break on account of their international commitments at the end of last season.

And Yakubu is also making the trip as he bids to step up his rehabilitation following his Achilles injury.

Travelling squad: Carlo Nash, Tim Howard, Tony Hibbert, Phil Neville, Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, Joseph Yobo, Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell, James Wallace, Jose Baxter, Jo, Leon Osman, Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar, Louis Saha, Marouane Fellaini, Yakubu.

Lescott is going to the USA , is in the air now , and if City want him .... I would have taken £25m but Moyes has told Kenwright that no less than £30m is acceptable , the only City player he'll take in part ex is Richards , otherwise it's cash only , If not He stays ... Just for your information , Moyes has say so on all transfer dealings in and out as part of his agreement for signing his contract last October , Kenwright readily agreed to this because he knows that if Moyes walks , Everton will go back to the bad old days of the 1990's when our seasons highlights where the end of season relegation struggles because a nett transfer spend of less than £5m a season is the budget of a championship team , not a team who are " best of the rest " for the last 2 seasons

Hi Dave, are you an employee of Manchester City? How do you know this high ranking official from Everton?
I don't know him. But a friend of mine does. PM me and I will tell you who.
