And without the influx of money from ADUG what makes you think we'd have progressed? Because we wouldn't. Everton have reached the pinnacle of what can be achieved in modern football without any serious financial backing.

Would you rather be Everton or Manchester City? Even before the money.

We still had an improving team with lots of youngsters brought through and a much better ground and infrastructure to the club. Everton are just workman like and have mangaged to be best of the rest but our club has more ambition than that, they are quite happy with it.

Not for me.
size wise there isn't much if anything between us and everton, and yes you could say everton are work man like, but imo before adug they were a better side than us, maybe not on paper but they were far more effective at getting results than us, hence why they constantly finnish above us and usually by at least 8-10 points! and they have produced youth and buy good young english talent whenever they can! i find your hatred 4 everton strange! mind you we all have teams that niggle us, in the last couple of years i've had a grudging respect 4 everton and how they go about there business.

The very fact that Everton fans has infiltrated this forum proves that they see us as a serious threat to what they are trying to do, which is quite right. Also from some of the behaviour on here they are clearly envious of our situation. At the end of the day we will either get Lescott or get another defender of equal or better quality I really don't care which one it is, I am not concerned in the slightest to Everton as they are a spent force now there is some real competition they just don't have the resources to compete. Everton don't have money to improve their squad never mind build a new stadium so why some of our boys are taking the bait I don't know.

My conclusion is that I have greater concern about what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow than what Everton will do next year. I will spend my time thinking about the Chelseas and the Arsenals of the world thanks as that is who we will be competing with next year. As for Everton, I hope you enjoy your mid table dog fight 09/10, but please concerntrate on what your own team is doing rather than us, we are flattered with your interest but would like to be left to get on with our own bit thanks.

Ironic that your name is "In the know" lol!

Were apsent force? Strange as everyones being saying that for the last few seasons and we've finished above all the teams who have outspent us and therefore were expected to finish above us.

Your narrow minded and quite frankly arrogant views are really laughable. Regardless of how well City's new team play next season we'll still but up there with you... to think we will only finish mid table at best demonstrates a serious lack of understanding about football as a whole. We finished 5th last season without Arteta and Yakubu for large parts, so with those two back and any new signings we make we'll do well. God why am I actually even trying to explain the fundamental aspects of football to you, you're clearly not all there!

What was that John Lennon song ' Living on borrowed time'... That sums Everton up. With Clubs like City, Villa and Spurs getting investment you will be left with the dead men. Moyes is a good manager but he will be gone after this season and then you are back to the relegation shuffle as nobody wants to invest in your club.

Everton don't have the fan base and therefore the potential of the club is smaller

For example City were getting crowds of 32,000 in the old Div 3 when our last trophy was in 1976, whereas Everton struggle to get 35,000 despite never having been relegated from the Premiership, and having won FA Cups and the League in my generation.

It wasn't that long ago that Newcastle were regarded as a top club. These things aren't static

We're signing Lescott and look....

Good point and sad reflection of the times were in on the football front. Whilst noting this City are now what we are i.e. loaded and can compete on the global stage for the best players. Everton are what they claim to be 'the people's club' unfortunately the people of the city don't finance them to the required level to challange at the top and hence they have hit their ceiling on a football level 'Europa league' !
I'm not sure that's true. If a club gives it's manager time, I reckon they can still crack the top 4. Who are the Bundesliga Champions? Wolfsburg? Wasn't so long ago that Valencia won the Spanish league, and Sevilla won the UEFA Cup

everton got into the top 4, and were unlcuky to go out against Villareal. They've done it once. If Villa had bought in the January transfer window, perhaps they'd have beaten Arsenal to 4th last season

The PL is completely different to the other European leagues (It's Platini hates PL) the interest, sponsorship, tv and the fianace that comes in is vastly greater than all the others and thats why our top clubs dominate the richet clubs league. Our top 4 have it sewn up mostly as all the money they earn from these deals lets them compete in Europe and have a cartel in England.

That was until now when our owners who don't need to create the wealth or borrow the money have shaken the top 4's world as we can financially compete now. As for the Everton's of the world it won't happen now as the big 4 is now a big 5 and their share of the money cake will reduce further. For anyone outside this group it just won't happen.

There is a slight silver lining in that the financuial institutions may call their debts in which concern the scum and Liverpol but I can't see it.

In the other countries their tends to be only 1 or 2 powerhouses and the other places are up for grabs, this is because the crowd attendances have a more direct impact on their financies as other revenue lines aren't so strong.

Just Glad City in the big 5, happy days !

no my dear it is you that is showing a lack of understanding for football. You have to look at the whole picture and not just that what is in front of your eyes. City were going through turmoil at the start of the season with Sven and Thaksin and co, we then underwent a massive transformation with higher than acheivable expectations on the team. This year we have stability and a full pre season to prepare, with what seems like very shrewd managment of the club itself from the chairman to the executives. To think that City will not be battling it out with the best is a bit naieve.

Moving onto Everton, yes you have done REALLY well with the resources available but that can only last so long. Aston Villa are now a better placed club than yourselves as are City and last years top 4. Added to that I cannot see 'arry at spuds having the start that Ramos had last year so I think they will push you as well. If Pompeys takeover goes through they may well be a hard team to beats as well. I would say Everton will at best finish 6th but most likely 7th or 8th.

Very true but the Everton fans can't admit that we are bigger.
