Yep, you're right. I remember hearing that Louis Saha has always been a proud Evertonian and had pictures of Gary Lineker and Peter Reid up on his bedroom wall in France during the 80s. As such, it was a dream come true for him when he finally got to pull on the famous royal blue.

That's one theory, anyway.

The other is that Everton offered him more money than was on the table from anyone else at the time he signed.

Wake up. Footballers have been joining teams just for the money for years. It might be on a much smaller scale than the money City are currently willing to spend, but the principle is exactly the same.
tbf mate saha is an awful example, he offered to give up all his wages at everton until he was match fit! he is 1 of the few who doesn't seem to money orientated, your points are valid tho
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I meant Fellaini and Belgium ;-)

Lescott pulls Jo to oneside and ask "Jo i'm thinking about this City move, what was it like there"? You dont think he'd say "I hated it man, i'm so much happier here" or words to that effect? He practically said that in the press towards the end of his loan last season, he pretty muched begged moyes to keep him at goodison

What a complete load of cock. Presumably in your fairytale Lescott's reply would be: "Oh, I was going to treble my wages and take up the most exciting opportunity that will ever come my way, but if you didn't get on with Mark Hughes because you're a work-shy wuss then I'm probably best staying here."

I would guess that Lescott's more pertinent conversations would be with Gareth Barry, Wayne Bridge and Shaun Wright-Phillips. Oh, and his agent. Not to mention Garry Cook and Brian Marwood. And Khaldoon. And Sheik Mansour.

exactly

been out for lunch so missed your earlier response, i see however that everyone else have saved me the time of replying....

thing is, and i don't want this to be taken the wrong way as at least your posts are literate, but i am bored senseless by you and other everton and chelsea fans of FREQUENTING our site.

i don't mind the odd visit and reasoned debate with an opposing fan but because the threads have been around a few weeks on our targets then you have imo overstayed your welcome.

Fine then maybe the mods should kick us all out and ban us then? Or maybe not everyone is as sick of us as you? Seems a fair few people on here are happy to have a debate with fans from other clubs.

i have highlighted and underlined the comment that irks me, what player doesn't prefer to be paid more for what they do?

Not the point I was making. I was making a point about a player coming only for the money seeing as it was metnioned Lescott would come for the money.

you constantly refer to us as a mid-table club, of course from finishing position in the last 2 years we have been, however it just stinks of jealousy to me - what City are embarking on is a fast-track that has NEVER been done in football before, we have fantastic owners who are prepared to fund this transformation and i personally am giddy as fuck at the thought of winning the Prem and Chumps League within the next few years.

Several reasons why this comment fails.

1) I've not constantly refered to you as a mid table side... think your getting me mixed with someone else
2) Winning the premier league and "chumps" league in the next few years lol! You obviously dont understand that things take time, foundations need to be built, and there is no "fast track" route to winning these trophies. Your fantastically deluded if you think this is acheivable in the next few years. It'll take you 5 years to challenge seriously for the league title... as for the champions league well how much have chelsea spent and they haven't won it yet so dont hold your breath. You may win it one day (maybe in the next ten years) but you most certainly wont win it in the next few years. I can only imagine when you were away as you wrote you were paying a nice visit to cloud cookoo land!

not difficult to see why players wouldn't want to be aboard for this journey, plus get paid more than anywhere else, ffs it's a no-brainer as to why Lescott and JT want to join the mighty blues.

the Bluemoon is rising and we are going to rule.

You have no brain if you think its a no brainer why Terry would swap a season of challenging for the premier league and the champions league for a work in progress like city. Very very deluded you are!

there's a difference between debate and insulting CITY fans - how is coming in here and insulting people reasoned debate? Calling someone brainless does not strike me as reasoned debate in the slightest?

Dear ToffeeAndy,

I can't be arsed dissecting your response as it just doesn't warrant me wasting valuable minutes of my life.

It does though re-emphasize my point that I would much prefer to discuss our imminent signing of Lescott with fellow blues rather than you'se.

Kind regards,

Rammy Blue

He's just as likely to pick up his mobile phone and call his England teammates Gareth Barry, Wayne Bridge, Micah Richards, and SWP, and ask them what they think. I'd imagine they'll all have pretty positive things to say to him.

Not even sure who to reply to seeing as you all jumped on the same completely misconstrued point.

Anyone one here want to point me to the post where I said Lescott would ask Jo, only Jo and no-one else?

Also your all saying he wouldn't listen to Jo but would listen to the other players listed? Surely if he was going to listen to the others he;d listen to Jo as well?

And he's known Jo for 5 minutes? He played in the same team as him week in week out for 6 months, yet you think he knows these other players better? Why?

If your all gonna get on your high horses then at least use something i've said correctly.

Chances are he'd listen to them all so how am I wrong?

Fair point. However sometimes there's a small group of city fans on here who believe they have arrived when they've barely set off. Arrogance isn't something thats easy to debate with, however the poster in question was looking for a response... my only response was to slate him for being arrogant and deluded. If you look at my previous posts you'll see thats nt the way I usually handle things but "fans" like that really make my blood boil and do give City fans a bad name.

Take whoevers opinion you like, i don't really care, Fletcher, rafeal, neville, berbaflop, park. They are all bad, wouldnt have them at city, i remember robinho absolutley DEMOLISHING rafeal in the derby he didnt know which way was up. You think fleltcher playing for watford is the funniest thing youve read you obviously dont see him play often. What is lescott on now, 30k a week? he wou;d be on 100 with us so although it aint 5x its more than double and equates to millions more over his contract

Well Man U won the league and got the Champions League Final so I'll go with SAF's. Maybe the players you listed also show that its a "team" that wins things, not just a collection of the best players all stuck in a team together.

I also think i've seen enough of Fletcher to have a decent idea of what he's like. Yeah he's not Kaka but he's a very good player none the less.

I think Lescott's on about £40k but I could be wrong. Maybe money will be the deciding factor... would you want a player just coming to you for money though? Do you think any of the players you've signed have come for the money? I woulnd't ever want that for my team.
Well like i said,
Take whoevers opinion you like
so i dont really see why you responded with
Man U won the league and got the Champions League Final so I'll go with SAF's
But you do that i don't really care, becuase after all SAF is always right isnt he, 30 million on Veron, 30 million on Berbatov and SIgning a championship striker who is out of contract when he sold two of the worlds best players, yeah SAF is always making good decisions. I'm not going to even respond to you from now, all you seem to do is slag city off in a subtle way with little sly dig's about player's only coming for the money and ridiculing us for believeing we can break the top 4 within the next few years, laugh all you want mate but i garentee we will be winning the league before you, we will be in the champions leaugue within the next few years but you won't, and we will continue to attract top players where as you take jo on loan because you cannot even afford a city reject, dress that up how you like.

Its a double edged sword really:

On the plus side:

* You've got the finances to really have a go at the top 4 and go beyond that even
* Your chairman seems to have patience and didn't just sack Hughes and bring in a big name
* You have bought Robinho & Tevez which boosts your profile massively

On the Downside
* Sucess is expected straight away. You wont be given time to settle. City fans seem to really dislike Jo, largely because he was rubbish for you. We gave him a chance and he did well. Sometimes expectation can way heavy on you. You either succeed or fail at City now. Failing could really fuck up your career.
* You dont have the solid platform to build on at the moment. Chelsea were already a top 5 team when they got taken over, you weren't. Again its all down to expectation. Will City fans be happy with 7th place? No so they buy big names who may or may not gel.

You have the potential thats for sure, but the likes of Terry wont leave (imo) until your established and have proven you are going in the right direction. Spurs buy players for crazy money (ok not crazy by your teams standards and deep pockets tbf) but never get anywhere. Their reserve team last year put out a team that cost £45m... proof that spending doesnt always work.

I'm not trying to say you wont get there, or to players like Lescott City aren't an attractive propostion... I'm trying to give a fair and balanced argument of what may go through a players mind when deciding on a move... I hope that comes accross ok.
all good points mate and i agree with them! im just trying to put across that city is probably a very attractive or shall i say intriguing proposition for players right now (BESIDES THE TOP 4). and please dont think im saying everton arent a good proposition, i just think maybe you've got as far as you can with your resources! and i'd like to add that i think everton have peformed excellent and i have huge admiration for moyes, imo he's top class . . . . . . .wouldn't mind him being boss at us in the future! maybe we'll leave that debate for another day lol!

Thanks, and yes to players City are a very interesting and attractive proposition. Also for footy in general your an interesting club at the moment.

And for the record... keep yer hands of Moyes! ;)
