How is it arrogant ffs?

It's fact, we have more potential than Everton and Lescott apparently wants to come.

Not going to lie and chat shit am I?

Its arrogant because Everton have consistently, over many many seasons, been higher up the league than we have been, just because we have money to spend, and players signed, it does not mean we will finish higher, or be better. We might just be crap at making a team gel together and end up mid-table (again). When we can point to consistently being better than Everton, and that means getting to finals, qualifying for the champoions league, then it will be fine to say we are "bigger", that day may well come, but its certainly not arrived yet.

Everton have a manager who has proved himself at taking his club higher than City, and with very limited funds. We have a manager that some (not all) think can do the same, but with very considerable funds at his disposal, we'll see.

Bottom Line is that Lescott will stay at Everton until we offer what they think he is worth, transfer request or not, in their case, dealing with us, its a sellers market, he's under contract, and Moyes can, if he wishes (and it sounds like he does) run the risk of losing Lescott for nothing at the end of that contract.[/quote]

Everton were crap and relegation fodder before Moyes came which wasn't so long ago.

Good post that. Only thing to add is that it's a brave manager these days that keeps a player who has made it clear that he wants a move.

in theory i agree, but once you have a player who no longer wants to play for that club and hopefully in our case if lescott puts in a transfer request, it is in the best interest to get rid, fans will get on his back etc

City were crap and often not the top division, so I don't see your point really ?

As regards an unsettled player staying at a club, we were led to believe Terry was hell bent on leaving Chelsea (this came from people close to him), but he's staying, and what about Barry last year at Villa, wanted to go to Liverpool, and said so, but he stayed, and Ronaldo at the rags, Madrid is the only club I want to play for ro some such crap, he stayed too.

Yes they move on eventually, but there are plenty of examples of unsettled players being told they can't move, and then getting on with job.

I've no idea if Lescott will or won't, but if Everton refuse to sell, then he's under contract and will have to do as he is told.

Finally Moyes is the type of manager who will risk it.

Why can't people see that comparisons of past achievements are pointless?

It's not about what you have achieved, it's about what you can achieve next season and in future seasons to come. Circumstances change dramatically as we've seen with many a takeover, none more so than ourselves and Chelsea.

While on some levels i agree in reality there potential has done just as much as us which is sod all really. Yes they've got to europe and made a cup final but won nothing, so in reality their potential has done nothing for them

They've consistently finished higher than us, consistently qualified for Europe and had extended cup runs.

Thats a lot more than us in the same time.

From the very top level, you're right, both teams have won nothing. But performance wise, theres only really one winner. I think we're in a great position to overturn that next year, but as they say; "you've got to earn respect".

Simply declaring we're a bigger club because we signed a few players, is wrong.

Absolutely spot on
