Loyalty - that's it. At City he will be better paid and have much, much better chance of winning some serious silverware in the next few years. If he does give up those opportunities to stay with Everton, then he is truly loyal, but I think he would look back and regret it when we start to really challenge.

Loyalty would be one. Dont forget though we are the only team that have broken into the top four recently - our first eleven is pretty good - we just havent got the depth of squad. I'd be suprised if we didnt finish above you next season IMHO. The season after when you've spent even more then maybe you'll be better but you cant honestly think its going to happen overnight?

Rather like the current Everton team-we had a group of players in the 80's/90's with a game-plan based on running till it dropped and grafting like every game was a cup final. It was like chucking battery acid on the eyes at times but extremely effective-so effective in fact that we finished in a league position that would've put us in Europe had your "illustrious" neighbours been able to behave themselves.
The point is that it can only last for so long-and is based on keeping a "core" group of players on the pitch.Like you,we didn't have the money to strengthen with real quality, teams slowly sussed the game plan and developed a way to play against us...the wheels fell off..
Fast forward to last season, and witness what happened at Goodison-you had a few injuries, our "flair" players clicked and we beat you quite easily.2-1 was extremely flattering to you.
Quality allied to application will always win out in the end.The fact is that our first 11 is vastly superior to yours now.
Where you may beat us is in your "team spirit" and togetherness...but if we ally that to what we already have I have no doubt we're going to finish higher than you in the forthcoming season.

Your surprise at us finishing above you wouldn't seem to match every single bookmaker in the land, who all have us finishing, at least, in 5th place. Bookies very very rarely get this kind of thing wrong. Our starting 11, and our squad, are better than Everton now, the only way we won't finish above you is if there are teething issues/the squad takes time to gell.

What the bookies say is irrelevant. The odds get shorter the more people that bet on it. If enough of us put a tenner on burnley to win the league they would become favourites eventually.

Thats my main point. Teething issues / gelling time.

I dont think your starting 11 is better either. Especially not your defence. That is of course at the moment when we have Lescott and you dont.

I'd be suprised. If its about money he will go. Ifs about anything else he will stay
About anything else and he'll stay?

So if he wants to play for a side that will soon challenge the top 4/for the title, he'll stay at Everton will he?
Or how about if he wants to move to a club whereby if he gets to a final, his teamates won't buckle under the pressure?
Or maybe he's sick of Scouseland? I mean, he already lives just a stones throw away from us.

He already plays for a club challenging for the top four, and one that has already broken in to it.
We didnt buckle under the pressure at the cup final. We were beaten by a full strength Chelsea team who were simply better than us on the day - no shame in that.
Scouseland comment is slightly on the childish side dont you think? He lives in Cheshire at the moment as do a most of the players from the NW clubs.

Everton "challenging" the top four???

Already "broken in to it"???

No offense mate, but do you have any idea what you're talking about. Finishing fifth is not challenging the top four. Finishing fourth once in the last decade is not breaking into the top four.

City's new found wealth may at times seem to be a little uncouth, but the truth is, and this is why so many of you and your compatriots have been on here recently, we are about to leapfrog you and a few other clubs, and become a new footballing power, not just in England, but in Europe.

You're jealous. And it shows...

I think it's perfectly possible that, in 2009/10, Everton will finish above us. In January and this summer, we'll end up having bought virtually a new first eleven, with only one or two exceptions, and it's bound to take time to come together.

However, I personally think that the amount of money at City's disposal will ensure that we're a better bet than Everton are to challenge the top four from 2010 on. So if Lescott came to us, that would represent four years of his five-year contract.

Unelss, of course, Everton get taken over themselves by someone with big money behind them. Which is possible, but equally may never happen, so it won't factor in Lescott's thinking.

OKAY this is for ALL the Everton fans on this Lescott thread......NO CITY'S THINK THAT WE WILL BE WINNING THE PREM THIS YEAR.

If lescott comes he takes his chance like all the others that have joined, nothings straight forward....We may win a league title in the next five years we may not (who gives a fuck we will still be here).

To be honest I will be glad when the whole shabang is over as I'm getting bored of the toffee's that are telling us daily not to be happy with our lot.....Fuck that I was happy supporting City when we had fuck all and I will be dammed if a couple of jealous bluenoses are going to stop me walking around with a big smile on my face!!!!!

I like Everton, but you lot need to stop bleating on and get on with it.....Your starting to sound like Livershite fans on the Legends show......Have some fucking dignity and get on with it, it's not like your team are all youth team players is it, you must of got them from a struggling team below yourself (oh the shame of it!!!!!!).

Agreed. At last someone who is making sense!

I feel the saleable players at Everton (Arteta,Cahill and Lescott) will soon tire of the situation.
They've hit a glass ceiling-Moyes has them punching well above their weight but they know that without mega invetment the writing is on the wall.
He has my utmost respect for the job he's done there-but he can only take them so far before the cracks will start to show.
I think they will finish 9th or 10th this season. They just don't have the squad to cope on all fronts.

Thats strange as I know plenty of city fans who are claiming that they will win the league this year and champions league next.

As a scouser living in Manchester I always sided with the City fans when the United lot started bleating on. It was like you were proper football fans with opinions that were sound a relevant. Now those same people are going on and on and on.You may have money but you havent won anything yet and dont talk to me about dignity. Its not us that are doing our transfer bids vis the tabloid press.
