Lescott [Merged]

Ok so we need to strengthen our defence. But can we afford to wait for Lescott? Moyes appears to know not onlythe value of Lescott to Everton but also his value to City......

Hughes needs to sort this out sharpish and go into the season with a firm idea of his first choice CB pairing. Tonights toying would suggest he does not yet know. We can't let this drag on much longer.

Roll the dice son.

I can't see Lescott joining tbh. Moyes is a clever man, Lescott's under contract and he's getting European football atm. Only greedy bastards like Tevez and Adebayor will join us until we win something.

Why even bother signing up and pretending?

Wow good spot! How did you deduce that from such a well thought out and intelligent response?

MANCHESTER CITY expect to finally land Everton centre-back Joleon Lescott today.
The England defender could even be unveiled to fans at City's Eastlands open day this afternoon.

Mark Hughes has trailed Lescott, 26, since January with Goodison chief David Moyes insisting the player was not for sale.

But Everton have reluctantly accepted City's bid of around £22million with add-ons taking the final fee even higher.

Lescott, who cost £5m from Wolves in 2006, will double his wages to £90,000 a week when he signs a five-year deal.

He refused to put in a transfer request - fearing a fans' backlash if the move fell through - despite telling pals he was desperate to join Hughes' revolution.

But Evertonians were resigned to losing Lescott and believed the club should cash in.

Now the Merseysiders have finally agreed, and are close to clinching a deal to bring in Arsenal's Philippe Senderos as a replacement.

Meanwhile, Moyes was furious at his side's display in Tuesday's 2-1 friendly defeat at Blackpool.

Moyes, whose side kick off at home to Arsenal on Saturday week, raged: "It was down to attitude - it was poor. We didn't reach the standards we have set ourselves here."
I bloody hope so.

The Sun can sometimes be quite reliable to be fair - the Tranny to Madrid deal in May

I can't see it going through that quickly, there hasn't even been a reported third bid as of yet.

I call that bollocks - though I hope it is in fact true!
