I'd save all the messing around and pay the £18,000,000 for him personally. It would significantly weaken a top six opposition team albeit temporarily as I would fully expect David Moyes to reinvest the money into his squad wisely, perhaps signing Miguel Veloso (we have no need for him) and a defender to replacing Jolean. I'd be quite happy with this signing.

This is a reasonable bet if OP is correct. Is this an attempt to sneak a ITK status on a rehash of someone else's post? That's never been done before has it?

Your asking me the $60,000 question!

All I can share with you is that we have come in today and things expected to move quickly next day or so.

As for Everton fans feeling confident about a takeover, they have no clue as yet if they are the club concerned - perm any one of five.

Wishful thinking at this stage. Serious Arab money men don't do percentages, they want the whole thing.

Which is why Liverpool are now pissing in the wind. It will be a club that has very few options on the table, currently. A Newcastle possibly? If it were Everton on verge of a takeover, they certainly wouldn't be negotiating price with us on Lescott if big money was on horizon elsewhere.

There is no takeover of any club. The guy came out and denied it all today!

Re: official move for Lescott today...

I thought it would be a quiet day today after Santa Cruz. Wrong again!

Lescott is a good player, and for a defender he scores lots of goals. he's versatile, but I'm not sure that this improves a 1st 11 that much. Improves the squad.

£18 Million is a lot of money for a defender, but I've been thinking what better defenders are there out there? None in the Premiership that would be available. Centre-half is not a position you can gamble with. I know Arsenal have bought a Dutch centre-half, but the defending in the premiership is a lot more physical than it is on the continent. I wouldn't want to be bringing in a none-Premiership player to play in a key position like that.

Now we will have to see Everton's response. Moyes has previously indicated the player is not for sale, but if he wants to go, then that changes matters. They also have Jagielka & Yobo so it might make sense for Everton to sell, and strengthen the team elsewhere

Re: official move for Lescott today...

£18m is a good price for Lescott when you think of some of the prices for players these days, Pitty Everton dont take £12m and Jo, Lescott is a quality defender hopefully he joins us.
