It aint Pellers who's not picking Lescott.

It's the Barca lite boys who want us to copy them. They think because Barca can basically stick anyone they want at centre back as Barca are so dominant then we can do the same. Barca can play a slow midget midfielder wholly unsuited to the role of centre half at the back because Barca's control of games is so strong. We aren't as dominant and so we need someone there who can still defend.

our best defensive partnership is komps & lescott , always has been , if they had played together today , we would be at wembley , pellegrini has brought pressure on himself by continually selecting a player who was signed as a last minute emergency cover , and is simply not up to the standard required , no doubt he WAS a good defender 5 years ago , now he is a liability . Its not demichelis fault , MP keeps on selecting him , i would even have garcia at centre back before the argie.

Because Demichelis a) is better with the ball on the ground. Lescott is to clumsy with the ball. Pelegrini doesn't care if Lescott played well or not, Lescott is too clumsy with the ball and that's why he doesn't rate him. Demichelis can make 1000 mistakes but he b) is better passer and c) feels more comfortable then he has a ball and for this reason he rates him higher.

a) Defensively Demichelis is better on the floor when it's coming to his right, Lescott better to his left, therefore Lescott is better in the left side defensive role. Coming out of defence Demichelis does have a better eye for distribution (see b).
b) Myth. Demichelis makes passes that sometimes get intercepted and start a counter attack, Lescott will not make these passes and plays safe.
c) True but it doesn't mean that the other players are comfortable when he's got the ball.

Remember, a defender's priority is to defend the goal, distribution is a good attribute for any defender but secondary. I would rather see a good defender that the players around him know what he's going to do and can rely on him to come up with the ball even though he might have limitations in other areas rather than one that you know is going to make one or a series of match turning defensive mistakes, inspiring little confidence in the other defenders and keeper.

i am also assuming this but wouldn't be surprised to see Garcia. For some reason Lescott just doesn't seem to be trusted.

I'm thinking the same about the possibility than Garcia may be picked ahead of Lescott.

Day after day,thread after thread I hear that Lescott is crap on the ball and Demic is a better passer of the ball and all sorts of similar crap. IF there is one person on here who thinks Demic should play instead of Lescott I would be surprised and ,if there is, that person must be a blind and ,I assume a very biased idiot.

How was Lescott's passing today? Pretty good I would say and better than many in the team.How as his defending?Compared to the rest of the back line it was world class.It wasn't world class but I did say compered to the others who were all dreadful.

Lescott's passing stats stand up well with anyone elses.Why, because he knows his game and he limits his passing ambitions to simple stuff with the occasional long when if an opportunity crops up or he has to because otherwise he could get caught out.That's what virtually all defenders do.

That's also what I would like Vinnie to do instead of going on occasional mad runs which almost always end in him giving the ball away and putting the defence under pressure. But because he is captain fantastic he can get away with it and all is forgotten.I would confidently expect Vinnie's passing stats are worse than Lescotts.

Of course Vinnie is loads better than Lescott,of course we could and probably should get a better partner for Vinnie but of the ones we have now in the squad Lescott is far and away the best partner for Vinnie.

I just wish I could work out why MP doesn't think the same. I know he "knows" Demic from Spain and has trust in him but surely he can see the problems he is having and causing game after game.For some reason I can still see him not picking Lescott to play v Barca. Inconceivable to me but it might happen.

All he should have to do is win the ball and pass it 5 yards to a more technically accomplished player. If said players aren't showing for the ball, knowing that Joleon is uncomfortable in possession then that's their fault.

On a couple of occasions today MDM gave Lescott a shit pass on his wrong side that made him struggle. If the rest of the team played to his strength's he wouldn't look so uncomfortable.

But to his immense credit he always tries to do the right thing on the ball, if he sees a difficult pass needs to be threaded to gain us an advantage he'll try to do it. He never hides like some of em
