Sheikh Mohammed (shaking hands with Messi) is the ruler of Dubai and has nothing to do with Abu Dhabi nor it's royal family, it can be likened to David Cameron having something in common with the Queen. Still the Dubai class are quite competitive with the Abu Dhabi royals on things but they do not own football clubs, not big ones anyway.

This just seems a customary meet with Sheikh Mohammed seeing as he is the ruler of Dubai and a big sports fan.

Just seen on the Bleacher Report that odds on Messi leaving Barcelona have been cut from 33-1 to 5-1 after rumours about City. Has Messi got contract negotiations coming up?

The odds of Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona for a record fee in 2016 have been dramatically slashed from 33-1 to 5-1 in the wake of reports linking him to Manchester City.

Per Sport's Tomas Andreu, City are willing to pay big money to recruit Messi, and that has seen the odds regarding a move severely fall with betting company Ladbrokes, according to Metro's Mark Brus.

I cant help but worry that the team who eventually throws a ridiculous sum of money at getting messi might end up a little underwhelmed with the outcome. For that reason I really hope it isn't us as it could be a very costly mistake. 29 at the start of next season but with a lot of miles on the clock to go with it. No club experience away from Barcelona. The only thing guaranteed is the prestige factor but the rest of it is a huge risk for me. Would rather we stopped chasing barcelona's shadow, built our own identity and spent the money on the fullback and centre midfield positions.

I just think that when you're looking at paying £170m or whatever figures are being quoted, you'd want a player with his best years still ahead of him rather than behind him. In fact i'd want three players with their best years still ahead of them for that money. As for shirt sales, whilst i'm sure they'd recoup some money, nobody really knows how much. His shirt sales as a barcelona player won't translate to the same numbers as a city player.
