Why is London a factor in a move ? I have never seen or read any articles about Messi being a party animal so why would he and his family have to move there IF they moved to the uk ?
Manchester's shite for tapas.

Get the Sheikh to build the Spaniards and Argies their own tapas restaurant and make sure that the cook isn't Jamie **** Oliver.

Why is living in Europe's premier city a factor? Come on.

We could be working on a possible deal since some time, but same can be said about Chelsea too.

Worst scenario in these terms are Messi to Chelsea and Guardiola renewing his contract at Bayern. Then the plan about Messi+Guardiola here with Txiki running the show behind would be a nightmare...

Also Messi probably will stay as Enrique hardly a great coach, he was good at Celta but before that he was really shit for Roma, he didnt know what he is doing, and even if Barca arent in horrible situation, few points off leader Real, and still in CL and Spanish Cup, the powers are working against him, their playing style didnt improve at all, couldnt really put Suarez, Rakitic into the team yet, has problems with Messi, he is a bit hot headed like Mancini maybe.

Or Messi is like Bellamy with the managers.:)

Expect Luis Enrique to get fired soon, probably would be better around we meet them than right now.

Dont think there is a better chance to meet Barca than if their problems continue on and off the pitch. They are easily lot worse now than were around 4-5 years ago and if we cant come close to beat them now, when will we?

What would happen if city signed messi for 200m today and said UEFA you have seen out accounts we are now OK the first 6 months is a loan and in June we pay 150m

Would UEFA ban their biggest player , the face of Adidas and ban a club on ffp grounds that is making money and probably would have Madeira support as they would be weakening Barca and also are finding their ground as well as support of PSG.

It would be a very courageous move by Uefa to do so.

Cruyff: Messi won’t leave Barcelona for the money but internal conflict
by Tom Conn | Posted on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff recently spoke about the issues surrounding La Liga’s all-time goal-scorer Leo Messi and feels that if the Argentine were to ever leave the Camp Nou, it would be due to internal conflict, not motivated by money.

Wouldn't need too. Several ways to sign him and pay over time. loan with a guarantee to purchase. Messi can pay his own release if he wanted too, say for a long contract that would pay him back with interest.

not an expert on finances but should city sign messi then if uefa tries to ban us from CL for supposed ffp infringement wouldn't it be hurting itself. Woudnt its sponsors pay less, i assume messi is a big factor in the sponsorship money that uefa gets?

But I thought we'd been working on this deal for years
We have, for two years. Why do people think this is bullshit?

When you say we have been working on it for 2 years Prestwich,is that just city or has there been some kind of dialogue between us and him/his advisors/barcelona ?
Both. We've spoken to his advisers and we put the financial package together. Barcelona were well aware of our intentions but we hadn't had any direct contact with them as far as I know.

The evidence was there two years ago when Rosell, the then president, gave an angry interview where he claimed we'd been trying to poach staff at all levels of their club. Link He was referring mainly to Messi.

Then the leaking of the Pellegrini meeting came from them, at the same time we'd largely concluded a deal with his people that wuld give us first refusal. As aprt of that, we also got involved in the Neymar transfer (which we had no intention of going through with) in order to speed it up (which we did) so we could try to get Messi to move that summer. The plan had been to do the deal after the World Cup. Then there was the tax case, which they manifestly failed to support him over and possibly even encouraged or initiated. That was a delaying tactic by them which seems to have worked.

That may be well and good but it's hearsay and conjecture.

As has always been the case regarding Messi/City.

There is no irrefutable evidence with regards to any involvement in the club signing Messi. Two years of effort and no more than speculation over a vague quote from a Barca official.

I'd give a left bollock for the club to sign Messi but there's no real reason to believe that to be anywhere near the case.
